Great location with a wonderful view over the Conniston lake. Fantastic breakfast and while we haven't had the chance to sample their home-made scones, it's more of a reason to come back and taste it next time. All their food is organically sourced, and with a beef farm just around the corner I highly recommend the 21-day dry aged steak. The best steaks around the Lake District I have been told. The accomodation was spacious and lovely with a great view.

Booked at short notice for one night, we were very sorry that we had to return to work as we could have savoured the location, room and food for much longer. This is a superb ,quiet location on Coniston.

Everything about Bank Ground Farm was perfect, from the picturesque setting just above the lake, to the beautifully furnished rooms, the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning, the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, and our host, big friendly Jonathon! Can't recommend it more highly - we will be back.

Lovely B&B, gracious host with a very warm family atmosphere. The whole set up is just how things should be, with trust and informality combining to make a very enjoyable break.

Bank Ground Farm was difficult to find, honestly speaking, but absolutely pleasant to stay with beautiful surroundings. We arrived late at about 8 pm and it took us a while to drive through the narrow country roads to find the place. The place was a nice and cozy country farm house with both histories but also modern amenities. The room size is a bit small and comfortable to stay as you won't want to waste your time indoor while there is so much beautiful nature around. we moved into a 6 person house on the second day of our stay and the view from the balcony overlooking the lake and the farm was stunning! The breakfast was traditional, slightly oily but acceptable. We wished there were more dining options on premise for both breakfast and dinner. The major problem we had is the terrible wifi connection that was not accessible from many different spots of the house and rooms. Though Jonathan was a very nice host and friendly, the other issue is there is not much service we could count on. We had some problems with the heater, tooth paste, etc., but weren't able to find anyone in the reception area for help at late evening. Also, the 6 person house is a three storey building and it was difficult to move our heavy luggage up and down.

A special place, particularly if you are a Swallows and Amazons fan, with great view of lake and fells. Comfortable room (and kennel), good breakfast, friendly people.

Jonathon User ProfileJonathon is a superhost.

I was born on the farm and as a youngster I was keen to travel. After living 10 years in London and meeting my wife, we decided to move back to the Lake District to help run the family business.
I love Bank Ground Farm, it's a stunning place to work and I'm so happy that we made the move to the country... to my roots. No two days are the same, from feeding the animals, lambing, calving, silaging to cooking breakfast, hosting dinners, organising weddings and spending time with my little ones.
Food is my passion, I love good food and lots of it! I enjoy cooking all sorts of food from asian to italian to traditional British.

Our accommodation mirrors what we enjoy and expect from our holidays. Hence there is a relaxed atmosphere and with lots of different types of accommodation to suit individuals, couples and families.

We provide excellent food and lots of activities and information as we know only too well how important it is to enjoy every minute of your break.
