"Like sleeping on a cloud." Perhaps an exaggeration, but this room has a very comfortable bed and a view over the neighbourhood toward the gothic tower of St. John's Cathedral. Plus a single bed.

The space
A large, cosy attic room; way up high, overlooking the peaceful street and beyond to the nearby cathedral. With its low angular ceilings and eclectic decor, it's a perfect hideaway for a couple, or large enough for a small family. The king-sized bed has been described as like "sleeping on a cloud," and there's a single bed tucked under the sloping ceiling too. There is even enough room to inflate an air mattress in this room to accommodate a larger family - (Airbandb actually began business with an air bed).

This quiet, characterful room also has a bureau desk which makes it an ideal space from which to catch up on work or study

We also have two other double rooms listed on AirB&B - The Island Room and The Red Room.

Guest access
As well as the bathroom facilities, guests can make themselves at home here - Longer stay guests can use the kitchen, the washing machine and clothes line, or sit in the lovely, sunny garden (sun not always guaranteed) where smoking is permitted. Guest who are staying for longer than just a night or two who want to cook their own meals can do so (within reason, depending on how many people are staying at the time) and can have fridge and cupboard space if they require it. We also provide complimentary tea and coffee. There's a small breakfast bar in the kitchen, plenty of charging points, wifi, books to browse and newspapers to read.

We offer a simple breakfast of coffee, tea, toast and cereal which can be self-service at the breakfast bar if you are in a rush, or at the dining table for a more leisurely and social experience.

Note: In the evening the sitting room is our private space, but guests are welcome to use it during the day - it's a great place to sit and relax if you're waiting for a taxi for example.

Other things to note
We have on-street parking where a visitor's pass is required. Depending on demand, we can offer you free overnight parking with a 4hr timed pass, and all day parking with a scratch card for only £2 per day. There are also a couple of two hour bays on our street and there are no restrictions between 6.30pm and 8am Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom

Our neighbourhood is really the heart of Norwich City itself. Our house is only 10 minutes walk from the city centre with its colourful market, historic buildings, arty lanes, commanding castle and vibrant shopping heaven. Even closer to home we have Unthank Road village about 2 minutes walk down the road where you will find a Tesco Express, Adnams Beer & Gift Shop, The Blue Joanna Bistro, The charming Pear Tree Inn, the William & Florence Gourmet Pub, The Unthank Kitchen Café, Indian and Chinese takeaways, a Subway Sandwich Shop, newsagent, pharmacy, greengrocers, butchers, baker, but sadly no candlestick makers. There are also at least 8 other pubs with 5 minutes walk of our place, more beyond that. If pubs aren't your thing, there is the imposing neo-gothic Roman Catholic cathedral just down the road.

I'm an Aussie, originally from Sydney, but I've lived in the fine city of Norwich UK for over 18 years, with my partner Sheila. Some find this funny - me being an Aussie and her called Sheila - which of course it is. I've was a graphic designer for many years, but nowadays work as a musician - singing and playing guitar in my crazy band, The Rum Dogs. Sheila and I share this large terrace house near Norwich city centre with Floyd the dog, two cats called Tigger and Frog, and an amazing assortment of guests from all over the UK and the world. We love travelling but don't get away nearly as much as we'd like, so running an Airbandb brings the world to us in between our travels. As well as Airbandb, we also host touring actors and stage crew performing at Norwich's Theatre Royal and Playhouse. So - we love travel, music, art, photography, movies, books, pub quizzes, camper vans, surfing, cats, dogs and people.

During your stay
I'm self-employed and work from home which allows me lots of flexibility if guests want to spend time socialising. I've lived in Norfolk for 30 years and Norwich for 19 so I know the county and the city very well and am always up for showing visitors around if they want. I can even take you on a real ale pub crawl, introduce you to some local live music or guide you on a walking tour around our very walkable and photogenic city with its the wonderful historical attractions.
