If you need a break from noise and stress or, like me, want to hear your inner voice, this will be the place for you. You can't get closer to nature without getting wet!

Charming place, very handy for Camel Trail; enjoyed the seclusion, close to tearooms & pub, lovely breakfast, would recommend

Lovely cabin / retreat just off the Camel Trail in rural north Cornwall. Outstanding breakfast, comfortable bed, its cosy but just what I was looking for and brilliant site for walks and exploring this beautiful area close to Bodmin.

Very comfortable bed, great breakfast, very near the Camel cycling trail.. I stayed in the smaller Shepherds I was told that the toilet sand shower nearby was for campers (there were only two tents) not my use. I was expected to use faculties much further away at the other side of the main house. They were very clean and I had a great shower but some flexibility about accessing the nearer facilities would have made the stay more enjoyable

Response from Val:
Mike, the camping part of the property is actually private and not a public campsite. You only saw it because you wanted to cook on your BBQ. Airbnb guests have their own bathroom as I cannot have people using facilities all over my house and garden. Yes it's nearer. But then so is my ensuite in the house and neither are for Airbnb guests.

Val & Pete Grainger and family have lived in the West of England for many years and both are qualified in Countryside Management and have an enthusiasm for the natural world second to none. They have both worked in community development and Pete works as an ecologist for part of the time.

They are both committed to quality and environmental sustainability and no stone is unturned looking for lovely food produced and sourced locally for you to eat.

Bedrooms (but not the bell tent)have antique and traditional beds with antique or 100% cotton sheets in the double aspect room.
They keep Geese, ducks, turkeys and hens and their bees are busy pollinating the many flowers in the pretty gardens. Water comes from a bore hole and is beautifully clean and fresh and much of the electricity comes from the 4kw array of solar panels in the back paddock!

Berry Lane Cottage is also a Permaculture LAND learning centre and there are often courses and volunteering opportunities.
