Quiet, calm retreat in the historic heart of Raleigh! We are excited to welcome you to our explorer's loft, meticulously designed by local interior decorator Hop & Dot, and perfectly appointed for your getaway with a king size bed, private garage, kitchenette and full bath.

Located just outside of downtown in the Mordecai neighborhood (est. 1785), the loft is walkable to art galleries, coffee shops, bakeries, and some of the best restaurants in the city - even a local chocolatier.

The space
Best for couples looking for a quiet retreat and business travelers who need to be close to downtown, the 525 square foot loft is located above our detached garage. We reserve the garage for guest use when hosting, so you'll have onsite and easy parking.

Stretch out in a king size bed with 3" foam topper, perfect for a good night's sleep. The loft also has a full separate bathroom (shower, sink, toilet) with door for privacy. The small kitchen is equipped with plates, silverware, mugs and glasses. Stash breakfast items in our full-size fridge and use the microwave for popcorn, kept stocked alongside other premium snacks for you in the loft. We also have an eight-cup Kitchenaid coffee maker and keep locally-roasted coffee and a variety of artisanal teas in the loft so you can ease your way into the day.

The full bathroom features Honest Co. products (hypoallergenic and made without harsh chemicals or synthetic fragrances), bath sheets (bigger than bath towels!), hairdryer and first aid kit.

Other guest amenities include:
- Two ultra-soft robes
- Phillips wake-up light alarm clock
- Bluetooth speaker
- Maps for where to find NC BBQ and craft beer

Solo business travelers will have everything they need with fast wifi, a large table to spread out and quiet workspace. A writer's paradise!

The pioneer-themed loft is the perfect place to call your home base while you get to know the City of Oaks. Its custom decor honors explorers of all kinds, featuring original oil paintings done by Dan's grandfather and photos of female explorers such as Bessie Coleman (the first black woman pilot), Nellie Bly (known for her record-breaking trip around the world in 72 days) with nods to Davy Crockett, Jacque Cousteau and Amelia Earhart.

Please note that you must climb stairs. There are 21 steps from the garage to the loft. Guests may park one car in the garage and will enter and exit through the garage.

Food and Wine recently featured the North Person Street District as top for local flavor, and we agree! In our opinion, this is the best neighborhood in Raleigh for eating and drinking. The loft is just a few blocks away from Crawford and Son (named best restaurant in Raleigh 2018 by the News & Observer) and just two blocks away from Stanbury (awarded the Best Restaurant in Raleigh 2019 by Midtown Magazine), we're right in a foodie paradise. Grab brunch at Pharmacy Cafe or a burger at The Station. We also recommend strolling to grab coffee and pastries from Yellow Dog Bakery, Night Kitchen or BREW - or try them all over the course of your stay. Tour the 3.2 acre historic Mordecai House (the oldest house in Raleigh!) and hop on the Historic Raleigh Trolley for tours. There is also an O2 Fitness gym nearby with day passes for purchase.
