Mary Anne and John were kind and thoughtful hosts. For example, Mary Anne put out breakfast foods for me the first morning because she knew I had not had time to go shopping when I arrived. The house was clean and well-organized. For example, I was provided a separate space to…

This Airbnb isn’t as good as I thought... the room wasn’t clean and the quality of the bed is not very good. The bathroom is quite dirty too, especially when there are meetings in the house (people use it !) I think this Airbnb is ok if you need to stay 1-2 days and if you don’t …

Response from Mary Anne:
The room was spotless when Juliette arrived. It was professionally cleaned the day before she arrived. We don't enter guests rooms once they arrive and don't charge a cleaning service fee. They are responsible for their own rooms during their stay and we provide cleaning supplies and equipment (vacuums). If the room was not clean it was her lack of attending to the cleaning. The same is true for the bathroom. Cleaning supplies to wipe down the counters and sink in the bathroom are on the counter. I wash the bath rugs weekly as well as the tub and floors and the mirror every other day. The twin bed in the room is relatively new and we have had dozens of guests in the room with no complaints about the bed. We are happy to share the kitchen with guests who realize they are sharing it with us and our other guests and we ask that those who use the kitchen leave it clean for the next person. Juliette had a hard time following the kitchen etiquette rules that we post and ask our guests to follow so that the next user finds the kitchen counters and dishes they use clean. I had only one 2 hour meeting during Juliette's month long stay with 5 older adults attending. Since they are elderly they do use the first floor bathroom if they need to during the meeting. I do tell our guests when I have a meeting. One or two attendees might have used the downstairs bathroom during the meeting. They in no way impact the cleanliness of the bathroom. I check the bathroom for cleanliness before and after a meeting. Regarding noise, it is only my husband and I living in the house and we are very quiet and one other guest who is a grad student studying all the time. If you read other reviews they almost all comment on how quiet the house is. The exception this last month was three days of Thanksgiving week in which my daughter was visiting with two grandchildren. I explained this to our guests before that the house would be more lively than usual during this holiday. We also invited them to join us for the Thanksgiving celebration which Juliette declined. Our other guest did and had a great time. We regret that Juliette was disappointed. This is the first negative review we have had in three years of airbnb hosting. She is young and perhaps did not understand what her own responsibilities would be living in a shared economy environment.

Once again, I've had a great experience with Mary Anne and Jon. They are warm and caring people. For those who like cats Genieve is an excellent host too. Definitively I'll come back next time I visit Davis.
