This place is down-to-earth and suited our family of four (plus our dog!) really well. It is comfortable and had everything we needed. It's only a mile to Cartmel - we enjoyed the farmers' market and the sticky toffee pudding shop!! It was quieter than the more touristy centres, but those are not too far away if you want access. It was a good base for us.

We had a lovely break at Cartmel cottages, John, our host met us and all was perfectly straightforward. Communication excellent. Woodland cottage was warm, cosy, clean and extremely well equipped. We did the local walks as described in the cottage leaflets, muddy so take boots! I didn't, but I had been warned. Much larger feel inside the cottage than it appears outside, and the garden is an amazing size. We hope we can return some time. We went the Cartmel Priory Service on Sunday, lovely welcoming vicar. In the afternoon we had a bit of a personal drama when I discovered an unknown severe allergy to shrimp when eating at a restaurant in Grange over Sands, carted off to Kendal Hospital, but seen and treated within minutes, excellent service and am still recovering but ok, no more shrimp for me

Overall our stay at John's house was excellent. Everything was exactly as described in the ad and more. The location with beautiful views of the English countryside all around made this place an amazing experience. The house was extremely well equipped and we found everything we needed. The house was also quite traditional, with the wooden bed and fireplace but had all modern amenities. I would surely go here again and recommend it to others.

The cottage is lovely and quiet and only 15 - 20 min walk into Cartmel. Beautiful views all around. Safe garden for well behaved dog/s. Lovely bit of Cumbria and easy to get anywhere else. Sticky toffee pudding is the local speciality. Yum yum

A wonderful 5 days of sunshine. The cottage is lovely and very peaceful. The cottage was clean, well appointed and cosy. Great shower. John came to say hello and then left us to our own devices. We were lucky enough to stay an extra night too.

Great cottage! Lovely views and a nice yard. Just as described. Can walk to Cartmel (about 10-15 min each way) And nice walks from the cottage too. Lovely bed in main room very comfy. Fire place was awesome. Definitely recommend for a nice relaxed holiday. Host John was lovely and checked to make sure we were happy. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We arrived to this little haven around 4.30 in the afternoon and got to spend a little time in the walled garden before the day drew in. If you want to get away from the world, it is absolutely perfect as there was only the horses putting their heads over the wall from the neighbouring farm wanting apples. The cottage is very sweet and the open fire place is lovely and took me back to my childhood, it also keeps you very warm. The kitchen has plenty of pots and pans if you want to self cater and the washing machine and line are very handy if you are staying longer. The walks around the cottage are delightful there is plenty of information in the utility room to decide what you want to visit while you stay. We were both very happy there for three days and would recommend it for a lovely relaxing holiday.
