Hi, our hostel & cottage are managing by Yusuke & Mariko. When you arrive here, we can give you 10min guide near the hostel if you need. We can tell you good restaurants, location of grocery/convenience store, bakery, cafe, Michelin guide Soba restaurant(around 1200yen), Japanese sweets store and Onsen(Public bath). They are in all walking distance. We are located in Nishijin area which is known as weaving and they will make a part of Japanese Kimono(traditional cloth). A lot of people still make in their living house. You can hear the sounds of weaving machine when you walk outside near the hostel. Hostel is not close to downtown or Kyoto station, but you can go many famous places (Golden temple, Daitokuji temple, Mt. Funaoka etc) by walk or bicycle. There are many local famous spot that we want to share. This Hostel & Cottage is run by two people, Yusuke and Mariko. The hostel is located in the area called Nishijin. Nishijin is a famous place for kimono belts, and many people still use looms to make belts and nectars. If you walk outside, you can hear the sound of looms. It is not near Kyoto station and Gion, but you can go by bus. Two or three minutes' walk from the hostel, there are Funaka Onsen with rock and hinoki open-air baths, Sarasa cafe made by remodeling the public bath, Umezo tea house in Japanese confectionery, Kanei in a 1-star soba noodle shop in Michelin guide, Fujimori dormitory where handmade artists gather, and a set meal shop where staff often go.In addition, there are sightseeing spots and cafes that can not be picked up much in the guide book, so please ask the staff. Nearby attractions include Daitokuji Temple, which is famous for its Kinkakuji Temple and Ikaku-san, Imamiya Shrine, and Funaokayama, which overlooks Kyoto. All places can be reached in about 5-10 minutes by bicycle.
