Staying @ Jere's listing was simply-arranged and the accommodations were precisely what is described and shown. I enjoyed the feeling of seclusion and privacy...and the room is definitely a "calm retreat." I will recommend Jere's place to family and friends who visit this area of Portland. :-)

Stayed at Jere's rental for a 5 day stay and it was everything we were looking for: close and convenient to shops, public transit, and restaurants. It is in a very walkable area of town and we had no problem navigating our way around on public transit. The unit itself was very clean and well-appointed. The listing is spot on and the unit had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Jere was a wonderful host--instructions were clear and everything was laid out in an easy to understand fashion. We can't thank you enough for making our stay in Portland comfortable with a great "home base" to return to every night after a day of sightseeing and adventures.

Jere's place in Portland was lovely! It was in a nice residential area, but was only a short drive to Downtown and other nice areas in the city. Jere made the check-in and check-out process very easy for us and was an accomodating host. I would definitely recommend this apartment if visiting Portland for business or pleasure

Jere's place is wonderful. I was in town for a conference, but for the first day, I had to stay in all day to prepare a presentation. Because the room is really comfortable and Jere thought of all the little details that, this was just as nice as working from home is! The room is equipped with some cutlery, a microwave and fridge, and there's even tea and coffee. I never saw Jere, but the instructions were comprehensive and communication before arrival was always clear and prompt. The location is great and works well if you are here to attend a conference or a show at the convention center. I always felt safe walking around, even late, and strolling around was fun because most of the houses in the area are really beautiful. Bridges Cafe two blocks away is great for breakfast or brunch. Don't make the mistake I made and confuse bus lines 6 and 4, they are both less than two blocks away, but in opposite directions!

Jere's place provided a quiet refuge from a work-related conference. After 4 years of staying in the downtown Portland area, I enjoyed strolling the neighborhood streets and checking out some of the neighborhood grocery and shopping centers. Very easy to access the apartment from the road without disturbing other residents. Also, travelled to and from the airport easily using public transportation. Everything else was either within walking distance or a short Lyft ride away. Very reasonably priced, private place that made for a pleasant trip. Also appreciated the host's flexibility on arrival times. I was able to drop off luggage early and head for a hike in the Portland wilderness within two hours of arrival.

Jere User ProfileJere is a superhost.

My husband, two sons and I got this big house in 2009 so when I retired, we could rent rooms to travelers. I retired in 2013 from teaching middle school science and spent the summer traveling.
In July I went on the Trans Siberian and Trans Mongolian Railways from St Petersburg by way of Lake Baikal and Ulaanbaatar to Beijing with fellow geography teachers. In September my sister and I walked the Coast to Coast in the Lake District and Yorkshire National Parks in northern England, which I'm doing again this summer. Also, I'll visit Thailand and India later this fall.
I'd love to share travel stories with you.
Now I love to walk, hike and bike around Portland most days. Ask me about where to go when you visit. I have many maps and books about getting around Portland and the Northwest.
