The space
Newly constructed space build to code. It is nestled next to my house ( yellow sign reads sealoft and that is the airbnb not the house) on a hill overlooking the stunning quaint out port town of Champney's West.It is a loft designed in the traditional Newfoundland outport way with all the modern conveniences. I tried to recreate the outport theme of my childhood on Merasheen Island in Placentia Bay a resettled community.

This recent review sums up why I build this place. “The serenity of this place is worth its weight in gold. The view of the small fishing village, the sound of the waves on the rocks, the seagulls above the "piers", the wind between the valleys have their positive effects on our souls.” I am a proud Newfoundlander! My first 6 years of life were blissfully spend on Merasheen Island. My family were forced to resettle in 1968 and we moved to Marystown where I spend the next 13 years and resettlement was a tangled web that left me and my soul adrift. I watched the movie the Shipping News and decided to visit. A visit to the Trinity Bight in 2006 area made a lasting impression and I now have a house called the Storeloft for the past five years as a tribute to my roots since 1723 on Merasheen Island. To paraphrase my brother’s great poem he wrote...Newfoundland sings to me....I live in Victoria, BC but Newfoundland is my home. My Sealoft is my way to showcase the province I love.Welcome all !
