Let me begin by saying that I am very sorry that Jon and his girlfriend did not enjoy their stay in Dublin, or our hospitality. I always focus on positive interactions but I need to point out several inconsistencies. Firstly, they were due to check in at 10pm and in fact arrived much much later. I was out (not asleep) and immediately responded to Jon's phone call. Jon called me from the pub. A neighbour knocked on the door and Edgar answered immediately. Secondly, that Saturday was Edgar's birthday and he was having a party elsewhere. Inclement weather made my house a better option, so he asked Jon if they would like to join us. He said yes. If Jon and his girlfriend had not been joining, naturally we would not have had the party at home. Jon and his girlfriend were no shows for the party, and when they returned in the early hours of the morning I immediately ended the party, switched off the music and began cleaning etc. Edgar and I pride ourselves on being hospitable and welcoming. I wish Jon and his girlfriend more enjoyable travelling in the future.
