Rest easy on a king bed in the restored waterfront NY Yacht Club Station #7. Beautifully furnished, unsurpassed views, covered porch, private dock on Vineyard Haven Harbor. Easy access to town, beach and bus line. Private parking, cotton linens. Homemade muffins. Private outside enclosed mahogany hot & cold shower overlooking the harbor. Full bath inside on 1st floor. Two additional bedrooms with two twins each. The three rooms may be booked separately or in combination. No kitchen privileges.

The space

This large bedroom which accommodates a maximum of two guests has a kingsize bed which is difficult to find on the Vineyard. Built as a way point for the New York Yacht Club, Station No.7 is a part of Island history. The house has been completely renovated while keeping the charm of the original yacht club including the island stone fireplace. Our three bedrooms listed with Airbnb are on the second floor and the bathroom servicing these rooms is on the first floor. 100% cotton linens. Maximum of two guests per room.
A light breakfast of homemade muffins with honey, jam, sweet butter, peanut butter, and coffee or tea is served each morning. No kitchen privileges.

Guest access

Harbor side porch, front porch, use of dock for fishing, sunbathing, swimming etc., teak and mahogany outside shower with hot and cold water overlooking the harbor (as well as an inside shower), TV, cable, wireless internet, private parking, no kitchen privileges. There is a mini fridge and Keurig in the room.

Interaction with guests

As much or as little interaction as you want. We know the island and can give recommendations for restaurants, beaches and things to do.

Other things to note

Easy jumping off the dock for a swim. There's always something happening on the harbor to watch from the porch. No children under 7 due to the proximity to the water and the rocky shore. The cottage is over 100 yrs old and has been renovation with all the modern conveniences while keeping the charm of the original way station. It was one of the original 11 stations that the New York Yacht Club had on the East Coast.

Carter and Johnny were wonderful hosts. They made us feel very much at home. The location and the view were amazing! I could've sat there all day. The other guests were also great! We feel lucky to have found this gem. I will definitely be returning soon.

Carter and Johnny are very nice and we had a ball staying with them. The dock was an added bonus. My boyfriend loves fishing and we had a great time fishing off the peer. The rooms were comfortable also and the muffins were amazing. I look forward to staying here again.

My stay was great! Carter goes out of her way to make sure you're comfortable in her home. The view is unbelievable from the back porch and the sunset is great also. I was there for a short visit and never went to the beach because the presence of water and waves is always visual and audible. I walked to Vineyard Haven for lunch one day and found a nice secluded beach near by and the ride to OB is always short and you can hail a taxi just by standing in the yard because of the street it's on. I can't say enough about Carter's muffins she makes each morning from scratch...its a great way to start your morning 2 feet from the ocean with great muffins overlooking the harbor. Enjoy your stay. I plan to stay with them again.

This was easily the best Airbnb experience that I've had so far; it was actually similar to a bed and breakfast. For starters, Carter offered to pick us up and drop us off at the ferry (though I'm sure that's not always possible). Each morning, she offered us amazing, homemade muffins and had juice/coffee on the table. She and her husband gave us great tips, shared some history of the island and were as friendly as can be. The location is spectacular. You're right on the water, where you can swim off their docks and enjoy amazing views all day long but especially during sunset. The house is in between Oak Bluff and Vineyard Haven, so you can take either ferry and easily walk to both (around 1 mile to Vineyard Haven and 1.4 miles to Oak Bluff). Our room looked exactly like it does in the pictures. It was pretty big and feels private. Carter had a mini fridge with cold water and a Keurig with pods in our room and ready for us. As described in the listing, the bathroom is down a flight of stairs which didn't bother us at all (but worth noting). If we ever come back to Martha's Vineyard, we'd probably only schedule a trip at a time when one of Carter's rooms is available. If you book, my guess is that you'll also be writing that this is the best private room Airbnb experience that you've had so far.

Carter & Johnny were extremely welcoming even though we arrived a little earlier than expected. The location was exceptional and we really enjoyed being able to sit on the porch with the ocean literally 10 feet away! Our room was very comfortable - I wasn't expecting to share a bathroom with the other guests but it was never a problem & it was so much fun to interact with our hosts and the other guests during the weekend. The delicious muffins in the morning were an unexpected bonus :)

Response from Carter:
Thank you for staying at Station #7. I wish we had had more time to get to know each other a little better but I'm so glad you had such a busy, fun visit. There's lots of reading and dozing on the porch left to do!

This is our second time back to stay with Carter, she is a great host! She provides a light breakfast in the morning and even took us to our ferry ride home. The house is in an ideal location if you are visiting the island and plan to use the bus. Our favorite part of the house is the outdoor shower overlooking the water, it's a must try. We love visiting the island!

What a wonderful and relaxing place! We spent 3 nights at the Harbor View and enjoyed it very much. The place is very inviting and nice and Carter and John were very hospitable to us, friendly and helpful and left us our privacy in there home. We stayed in the big room with the King Bed and felt at home. Every morning we jumped into the water, went under the outdoor shower (fantastic!) and enjoyed our breakfast on the deck watching the see. Thank you for picking us up from the ferry and for the easy communication before we arrived. We had a fabulous stay and everything was perfect and we can highly recommend this place! Will be back one day :-) S & M
