House from 1881, with modernized studio (26 sqm) downstairs on the corner. Own entrance, fully equipped kitchen and separate bathroom, cable-TV and wifi is included. Best suited for 1-2 persons, as it has 1 double bed 160cm. When the sofabed is pulled out, there is not much floorspace left...

The space
The studio-flat is best suitable for 1-2 people, as it has one double-bed (160c m), but can sleep 3 persons as it has a small sofa-bed (120cm). When the sofabed is pulled out, there is not much floorspace left...

Live in an old Bergenhouse from 1881, within walking distance to the town centre, placed between Bryggen and Old Bergen Museum.

Sandviken is an old area of Bergen, close to the city center, and also placed between the sea and the mountains.
There are 2 local shops nearby (1 minutes walk)

There are good connections with public-transport, bus-stop is at Sandvikstorget and there is parking just outside the door. (guests have to pay from 08-23) If you are still in doubt, you can look up Sandvikstorget on Tripadvisor and read our latest reviews! We are now number 2 on the list of B&B and Guesthouses in Bergen.

Just over the road:
Sandviksboder Coastal Centre and the Norwegian Fisheries Museum is housed in the old Grade II listed warehouses from the 1600s and 1700s in Sandviken in Bergen. Here are therefore some of the oldest and best preserved warehouses in Bergen, some are older than those on Bryggen. Dried fish stalls are a unique heritage from the time Bergen was the center of a worldwide stockfish exports. The outdoor area is open to the public. On land and in the harbor, visitors can contemplate the diversity of heritage boats. Most are old, but some are more recent copies. The Norwegian Fisheries Museum is just over the road. There is also a lunch restaurant there BOD 24, open during the museums opening times. A little further out in Sandviken is Old Bergen Museum, a reconstructed town with about 50 wooden houses from the 17 -, 18 - and 1900s. Old Bergen Museum was opened in 1949.

Activities
Short distance to hiking, among other things, Stoltzekleiven, Fjellveien, Sandvikfjellet and Fløien.
• Stoltzekleiven has a height difference of 313.5 meters - spread over approx. 910 lm. The track has a pitch of between 20 and 40%. There are about 800 steps! Stoltzekleiven Up is a yearly race arranged every September.
• Fjellveien is perhaps the most famous walking route of Bergen, passing among others Stoltzekleiven, Mon Plaisir, Tippetue and Fløisvingene. Here you get a nice view of the approach to Bergen. Fjellveien continues past Skansen, Kalfaret and stops at Bellevue. 4.6 km long, mostly traffic free and flat terrain.
Bathing:
• Sandviken Sea Baths in Old Bergen Museum, is open all summer. Small and cozy facilities.
• Helleneset, large recreation area on Eidsvågneset. With such children's pool, diving board and cut climbing wall. Bus 5 from Sandvikstorget. Blue-flag awarded beach!
• Nordnes seawater pool in the center, a heated swimming pool, changing rooms with showers and sauna. Staffed by lifeguards. Traditional and charming!

• Sandviken Dagligvare/Grocery in Ekregaten. (Saturday 09-20 Sunday 11-20)
• Joker on Sandvikstorget 11 (08-21) (Saturday 09-20)
• Coop Extra, Sandvikveien 94 Post, fresh food counter and post office.
Meny Støletorget, fresh food counters for fish and meat, best selection for fruit etc.

You can park just outside our house;-) in our area (Sandviken) its residential-parking only between 08-23 on weekdays, until 17 on Saturdays. Sundays it is free. There are different options for guests. You can park and pay with coins at the 4 metres outside our house, which is the most expensive (22nok/hour), buy tickets with coins or visa-card (10nok/hour) or there are some special-cards which I can buy on request: 40nok for afternoon/evening(17-23) or 100nok for one day (24h). So it depends on how long you plan to have your car parked :-) If you are still in doubt, you can look up Sandvikstorget on Tripadvisor and read our latest reviews! We are both from Bergen, (Johan 1/2 English) and met 29 years ago. (that`s when the profile-photo was taken.) We have lived in this house the last 16 years. 9 years ago we bought "the rest of the house", and have rented out our 2 apartments to tourist and other travellers, for the past 8 years. Johan has worked with location scouting for films in the Bergen-area for 15 years, so he knows the city and the area around Bergen well! He has lived with an Italian family as a cultural exchange student in Milano-Italy (still speaks some italian:-) and studied in Cardiff-Wales... We have also spent 1/2 a year near Cadiz- in the Costa de la luz-area of Spain, so we understand a little spanish. We have 2 girls, and we all live upstairs. We love travelling, spend most of our holidays in south England, but have also visited Spain, Italy, Croatia, Thailand etc. We ourselves enjoy staying in apartments when abroad, so that we can eat some meals "at home" and have some more space than an ordinary hotel-room, hopefully you will enjoy our apartments, we will try to make your stay the very best - Welcome:-)
