Our beautiful eco-friendly barn, set within Eryri (Snowdonia National Park), is a mix of traditional stone exterior and contemporary interior, within landscaped woodland gardens. We have 360° views of the mountains, and are near Dolgellau, Machynlleth, Coed-y-Brenin, Lake Vyrnwy and Cader Idris.
Downstairs there is a lounge, kitchen and dining area, with a double bedroom and shower room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one double and a twin - and a bathroom.
The space
As you approach Pentrewern, you know you are about to stay somewhere very special. On entering the barn, you are met with a warm and cosy open plan ground floor with a contemporary rotating log burning stove. The lounge has comfortable but stylish leather seating with two sofas and an armchair, together with a large flat-screen smart TV with FreeSat, Bluetooth soundbar and DVD. There is also free Wi-Fi throughout (not fibre).
The dining area has a large table and chairs to seat up to six. The kitchen is fitted with a large modern range cooker with electric oven and LPG hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, and is fully stocked with all the cooking utensils that you should need, as well as tea, coffee, sugar and milk so you can have a cuppa on arrival!
There is a bedroom on the ground floor with a queen sized double bed, and a ground floor shower room with basin and WC, ideal for those who might struggle with stairs. The open-tread staircase leads to the two first floor bedrooms – the master has a standard double, and the other is a twin room - and a bathroom with bath, basin and WC. There is also a travel cot and highchair available on request.
The patio area also has seating for 6, with a BBQ for relaxing on warm evenings after a day out, and has stunning views down the valley, which constantly change. We are set in 1.25 acres of tranquil gardens with uninterrupted mountain views in every direction - a truly rural retreat in Eryri. Have a wander around with a cup (or glass!) of something nice, sit on the benches and watch the birds nesting, listen to the sheep baaing or just sit and watch the world go by at our stream. On a clear night experience the stars in all their glory, and look out for shooting stars and our local barn and tawny owls!
There is a shared detached drying room with washing machine which you are welcome to use and ample parking for three cars.
Central heating is provided by an eco-friendly biomass boiler, electricity comes from solar panels and water is fed from the spring (treated accordingly). Other environmental considerations include a waste water plant.
The barn is completely independent from our farmhouse, giving you privacy, but we are right next door if you need us.
You will find a welcome basket waiting for you on arrival, and a basket of logs for the burner. Further logs are available to purchase from us if required.

House rules:
Maximum occupancy of six plus one toddler. Any additional guests that have not booked will be charged for or asked to leave.
One well behaved dog only please (no other pets). We do not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro), or any aggressive dogs. Please let us know if there are any four-legged guests joining you on your trip when booking. Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times in the garden, should not be left unsupervised in the barn, and all poop should be picked up!
Due to the steep garden and the stream running through it, children should be supervised at all times.
Please leave all gates as you find them, otherwise you may find a sheep or cow on your doorstep!
For insurance purposes, guests should ensure that all downstairs windows and doors are locked overnight or when not in.
The premises must be left clean and tidy on check out. We don't expect it to be spotless (that's our job!), but we also don't expect to have to clear food away.
We do expect wear and tear, and minor breakages, however any serious damage must be paid for.
Guest access
The Barn is a self contained property, with it's own front door.
Other things to note
Please note that we are unable to offer the charging of electric vehicles. However, there are now numerous charging points in the local vicinity, including Dolgellau, Machynlleth and Barmouth.
