About this listing

This property has recently been converted into a trendy studio. Zimbabwean Interior Designers have created a place of colour. There is a Moroccan courtyard, plunge pool and outside barbecue area that lends itself to private entertainment.

The space

Pevensey Studio was inspired by vibrant African Art. It is a celebration of different artists and colour. It is located in the very heart of the Northern suburbs and has easy access to restaurants and coffee shops. It has been created to enjoy the experience of living outside whilst being totally private. In the centre of a Moroccan style courtyard is a plunge pool/waterfall. It is the perfect funky accommodation to entertain friends in and enjoy putting supper on the bbq.

Interaction with guests

We live on the same 5 acre compound. There is a main house and a studio, both with their own automated gate and entrance. My husband and I live in the main house so we are there for our guests as and when they want us. Our guests will also have contact with our Amanzi Reservations Team that are trained to sort out problems immediately.

Other things to note

Breakfast included, other meals by arrangement
We leave a selection of drinks in the fridge, and we can organise washing/ironing at an additional cost. There are 5 restaurants in walking distance from the Studio and also an evening meal can be organised in advance.
In the past we have allowed small pets if the guest is respectful of the furniture and fittings.

Julia and her staff were incredible!!!! Her sensitivity as a hostess went beyond anything that I have ever experienced or could have hoped for. If I could give her a '100' star rating I would! A little bit about our visit and why Julia is so amazing. It had been raining quite heavily in Zimbabwe for the past few weeks prior to our arrival. It was the first time that my son had been to Africa and I wanted this trip to be especially memorable. When we arrived at Pevensey Studio it was as beautiful and unique as depicted in the photos and in a quite lovely and safe area. However, I have really bad asthma and allergies and because it was so damp, the open and beautifully airy layout of Pevensey was too moist and triggered an attack. I would like to STRESS that Pevensey was not the reason for my attack, but rather the fact that it had been raining so much and the lovely layout of the rooms facing the courtyard was too much for me. I require an extremely dry and hot environment which I am sure would not have been a problem during the summer dry season and I would not hesitate to stay there during that time. However, the manager immediately responded to my attack by contacting Julia to see what could be done as I would be unable to stay there. They decided to put our family up in another property, the Amanzi Lodge. All I can say about this property is OUTSTANDING! FANTASTIC! A DREAM COME TRUE. Incredible service, privacy, and respite. It was a difficult trip for me because I was in the process of settling my late father's estate, dealing with a local farm property and some issues which occurred on it during my absence, as well as the theft of my phone while shopping for farm supplies. A lot, yes! But I must say, coming home each night to the tranquility, beauty, and exemplary service and catering of the staff at the Amanzi Lodge was the one thing that kept me sane. From the incredibly imaginative decoration in the individual bungalows, to the claw foot tub, the beautifully ensconced four poster beds, to the outstanding view of the landscaped property from lovely windows which you can open outward as far as you would like, everything was 5 stars, or more if I could give it. Staying at the Amanzi Lodge was a memorable experience for my 14-year-old son, and because of it he fell in love with Africa. I will always stay at one of Julia's properties whenever I return to Zimbabwe and I hope my recommendation will inspire you to do the same!

My organization booked Pevensey Studio while our team was in town for an international conference. Each step along the way out experience was incredible--from confirming the booking on Airbnb with Julia, to a warm getting on arrival from the Pevensey and Amanzi Lodge staff. Pevensey Studio is a truly magical place and it made a week of intense work feel a bit like a vacation. Our only regret was that it took us 3 nights before we took up the offer to have dinner prepared for us Arthur studio--we had the best meals we had during our time in Harare, hanging out around the outdoor fire place in Pevensey Studio's courtyard. I hope to be back some day--this time purely for some R&R.

We received excellent customer service throughout our stay and were greeted with a friendly smile from our host. Whenever we needed assistance he was only too happy to help. It was also good that he owned the Amanzi Restaurant where we received excellent service and delicious food and were able to enjoy great music in the bar area. the maid and handyman were very helpful too and the security at Pevensey Lodge made us feel very safe.

My husband and I run one of Zimbabwe's top boutique hotels, Amanzi Lodge and Amanzi restaurant. We also run several private houses in Harare, that we rent out to business guests and families on holiday. Pevensey Studio, Pevensey House. All our properties are 5 star and are rented in their entirety therefore giving guests privacy, security, and a home away from home.
We are enthusiastic about our business and love traveling to see our children in England. Our passions are the garden, food and wine.
