Welcome to my home, a bright and spacious period apartment on a leafy street close to central Brighton. Situated in a popular residential area a stone's throw from Preston Park, this ground floor garden flat is full of character, colour and period charm. Please note I live here full-time when not travelling so - in the original spirit of Airbnb - it contains my things! I'll consider pets - please ask. Combining original features with modern comforts, this is a quirky yet stylish 'home from home'

The space
My home is situated on the edge of central Brighton... meaning easy access to the buzzing city without having to sacrifice a good night's sleep. It's also on the right side of town if you want to access the beautiful South Downs national park, the gateway to which is barely five minutes from my door.
The flat itself is furnished in an eclectic mix of modern and vintage, with bare wooden floorboards and big sash windows. Double doors in the living room open onto the lawned front garden while at the back of the house there's a sunny terrace. The place comfortably sleeps four adults - up to five at a push. There's a large bedroom with a SuperKing-sized bed, a sofabed in the lounge which comfortably sleeps another two, plus an occasional sofa bed in the hallway. The wetroom offers a touch of luxury, with its walk-in shower, free-standing bathtub, underfloor heating and waterproof TV.

Guest access
Guests have access to all areas including the front garden, and the back terrace as far as the gate at the top of the steps, beyond which lies my upstairs neighbours' garden. The front door of the building leads to a communal hallway which is shared with my next door neighbour. The private entrance to my flat is via the green door with the stained glass panels at the end of the hallway.

Other things to note
Towels and bedding are provided as well as a few basics (milk, juice, bread, butter, jam, cereal, condiments and spices etc). There is a hair-dryer in the bedroom. Guests are free to make use of my books, DVDs, tennis rackets and Amazon Alexa music library.

Location

Brighton, United Kingdom

It's a pretty and relaxed neighbourhood with easy access to green open spaces, including Preston Park and Blaker's Park (both five minutes from the apartment). The Duke of York's (Britain's oldest cinema) is just down the street while the quirky North Laines are a 15 minute walk away. The seafront is another 15 minutes. The popular Preston Park Tavern - less than two minutes from my door - is family friendly and serves consistently good food and wine. There are also several tennis courts nearby. The neighbourhood has a good range of independent local shops - including several great delis, butchers and bakeries - while there's also a Sainsbury's Local and Co-Op supermarket nearby. There is a (free to use) ATM cash machine in Preston Park Wines, the off-license opposite the zebra crossing at the top of the street.
