Traditional Cotswolds stone cottage on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Ashton Keynes in the centre of the Cotswold Water Park. This self-contained cottage is attached to the main farm house and provides a spacious and comfortable base to enjoy the Cotswold villages and the huge range of activities in the Water Park: wildlife walks, cycling, golf, water sports and regular triathlons. Walk by the fledging River Thames through the village and enjoy good food at the White Hart pub.

The space
Fig Tree Cottage's kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge, freezer, microwave, Nespresso machine (capsules for the first day provided), induction hob, single oven, extractor fan, dishwasher, cookery books, seating/dining area, good quality pans, cooking equipment, plenty of plates etc and plenty of space to store your food. It's a bright space with roof lights and window onto a stable view. The wifi hub is also in the kitchen. There's a large blackboard by the seating area for doodling on, holiday visit wish lists, shopping lists, noughts and crosses, or whatever you fancy!

From the kitchen open up the double doors onto the living area, enabling the cook to feel part of whatever is going on in the living room. (There's also a comfy Lloyd Loom chair in the kitchen for keeping the cook company.) The living room has a wood/coal burning stove - with fuel provided for the first night. The stove, two double sofas, and a digital TV (with set top box for catch up TV) and DVD player, make it a comfy, cozy room for snuggling down to watch a favourite film, play some games or read a book.

Downstairs there's also a utility room with washing machine and a separate downstairs loo. You have your own private front door with hall for coat hanging, shoe storage and stairs to the bedrooms.

Both bedrooms are south facing and sunny. One has a kingsize bed (with 400 thread count sheets) and one has full size single bunkbeds. We can put a travel cot in either room. Both rooms have plenty of clothes storage. Upstairs, there's also a bath with shower; basin taps, bath taps are all wall mounted and bathroom furniture is comtemporary. We provide good quality, bath sheets for all guests and there's a towel rail to warm them up.

You can BBQ outside on a Dan Cook charcoal BBQ in a private seating area.

The cottage is newly painted, the central heating is very effective with plenty of room to store food, coats, shoes, boots, toys. It's a comfy place and easy space to live in. We've spent 6 years renovating the cottage and farm and in 2018 were the overall winner (for the South West) of the LABC's award for the Best Extension or Alteration to an existing home.

Baby and children equipment: high chair, child friendly plates, cups and cutlery, blackboard, steps to reach the basin, travel cot with linen.

Under the stairs there's an iron and ironing board for any last minute preparations for an important event.

The guest manual is full of suggestions for close by things to do: sport, walking, entertainment, food markets, events, bird watching, wild flower spotting, lake exploration, water park info, winter activity suggestions etc. Why not catch one of our amazing events (Air Tattoo, Badminton Horse Trials, Literature Festival etc) or take part in the Cotswolds Triathlon (2 minutes along the road) and also have a chance to be well located to explore the Cotswolds.

Guest access
Fig Tree Cottage guests have their own space in the entire cottage. The cottage is attached to the owner's farm house. This means a private front door, a private parking space and a private outdoor seating area with BBQ.

Ashton Keynes is surrounded by beautiful, bustling Cotswolds towns with beautiful walks, local markets, independent shops and great pubs and restaurants. We are at the heart of the Cotswolds Waterpark which offers a huge range of activity on the doorstep; whether hiring a bike, visiting the Cotswold beach (and its huge inflatable Aquaventure on the lake), climbing, shooting, sailing, golfing or exploring the birds and flowers in the unique nature reserves. We love where we live and there’s so much to see and do before you add in the regular programme of events whether Polo, eventing at Badminton, the Fairford and Kemble airshows, the legendary Gifford’s Circus or the autumn colour of Westonbirt.
