The space

We call our hale (house) Blue Hawaii, and it is our way of taking you back to a simpler time. We have made every effort to immerse you in Hawaiian history, while keeping amenities modern, comfortable, and functional to create a memorable stay.

Entering this contemporary single level, 3 bedroom / 2 full bath, private home in Kona Paradise, the views instantly mesmerize you. You find yourself drawn to the sky, the water, and the lulling sounds of the pacific ocean. Falling asleep to these sounds every night may make you want to stay here forever, it did us.

Blue Hawaii comfortably sleeps 2-6 Adults, with one cal-king bed, and two queen beds. This newly remodeled home features open beam ceilings, a great room, a spacious kitchen with dark hardwood cabinets, granite countertops, a breakfast bar, ceramic tile floors, and low-e insulated windows. Two large sliding glass doors offer access to the large covered lanai, creating an Indoor/outdoor living space, with dining for 4-6, a conversation set, an electric BBQ, and a Balinese Day bed.

The kitchen boasts new stainless appliances including, side by side refrigerator, ceramic top electric range, convection microwave, dual deep stainless kitchen sinks, garbage disposal, dishwasher, water dispenser, Keurig K-Cup, 10 cup drip and french press coffee makers, coffee grinder, full set Circulon cookware, Kitchenaid knives, Nutri Bullet smoothie maker, blender, four slot toaster, rice cooker, waffle iron, hand mixer, salad spinner, cookie sheets, cupcake/muffin pan, rice cooker, panini/sandwich toaster, cooking/baking utensils, silverware, entertainment drink ware, serving bowls/dishes, Pyrex bake/cookware, and party cooler. Ceiling fans in all indoor living spaces keep the ocean breezes at a maximum.

Technology includes: 55 inch LCD TV (in living room with Bose sound system, cable TV and blu ray DVD player), 32 inch LCD smart TV (in master suite with cable TV), speedy internet access, and land line phone with free local & long distance.

For fun and entertainment we include: DVD’s, games, Hawaiian literature, beach toys, beach towels, beach blanket, woven beach mats, ice chest, snorkel sets, boogie boards, water noodles, beach chairs and an umbrella.

Guest access

The nightly rate is for 4 people. There is a $25 per person/per night charge for additional guests up to 6. BE HONEST.

We will send you directions to the house and issue a front door code for you during your stay once payment is received in full and within 14 days of your arrival.

Cleaning fee for 1-4 people $200. This fee is non-negotiable and goes directly to our staff.

Daily Housekeeping may be available for an extra charge. Please ask and we can have it quoted for you.

One last thing - The home is not suitable for young toddler age children. So please don't ask. We require children staying at the home be 7 years or older and no more than two children may stay at one time.

Interaction with guests

When you stay at our home it will be as if it is your own little paradise. No one living under you or even very close to you. Privacy at it's utmost. We want you to choose how you would like to interact with us. We know how busy life gets and we're not about nagging or checking in on you, but we do like payments to be on time and respect paid to our home. We have care takers and house keepers that will be available in the event something goes amiss and we encourage our guests to let us know when that happens and how our staff treated them. It's about the experience and we want you to have a fantastic vacation.

Other things to note

Our home is primarily off the grid. Blue Hawaii uses the sun for power, has its own 10K gallon rainwater catchment with filtration system, septic tank, and we take our garbage to the dump at Mile marker 98/99. We are using mother nature to survive. If it isn't raining we don't get water. If it's cloudy we don't get power. With that said we hope you'll take shorter cooler showers, don't run the water while washing dishes, brushing your teeth/shaving, wash only full loads of clothing - hang dry your laundry so you can to catch that tropical lush plumeria scent to take home with you, and put the dishwasher on "Energy Saver", and uncheck the heated dry cycle.

RENTAL RULES & REQUESTS

This home is privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while Guests are on the premises or using its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the breakage or loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premises.

Take Care when cleaning: Please treat the home and it’s furnishings and supplies kindly. Do not take items home with you. Please do not damage items when cleaning them. If you are unfamiliar with something please call us and ask. We’re more than happy to help.

Smoking: is NOT allowed in the house, on the lanai or any of the surrounding grounds. If the house is found to smell of smoke or smoking waste is found, a cleaning fee of $250.00 will be accessed and charged via your security deposit.

Damage: Please keep the property, the plumbing, and all furnishings in good order. If damage does occur please contact us immediately so we can discuss cleaning/repair/replacement with you. If we find damage during our turnover for the next guest we will charge you $250.00, plus the cleaning/repair/replacement cost including State tax and service fee (Our staff’s incidental costs for travel and time). Please see Septic Below for Plumbing fees for repair.

Lotions/oils: Please do not sit/lay on indoor furniture, bedding, rugs or outdoor furniture without first covering it to protect from lotions and oils.

Hanging Items from the railings: Please do not hang items off the Lanai or walkway railings to dry - This is against CCR’s of the Homeowners association and if we are fined we will pass this cost onto you. Please use the laundry racks and towel bars in the bathrooms and laundry room for drying clothes and towels.

Walkway and Railings: Please do not hang, rest your feet or place any body weight on the cable railings on the lanai. They will stretch. They are not a place for children to hang on - in fact, keep your children away from the all the railings because it is a 30' fall to the lava below.

Appliance Uses: Only use appliances for their intended uses. If you have questions please call us. Many appliances (coffee makers) have their instructions with them.

Flame/Power Outages: It is HOA Mandated in the community that there will be no open flames used on lanais or surrounding areas of the property to avoid accidental fires. The closest fire department is 20 minutes away. We do not keep anything in the home that requires a flame. In the event of a power outage please use the battery operated candles by the front door, LED lantern in the kitchen and the flashlights located in the laundry room, under the kitchen sink and in the "junk" drawer in the kitchen bar drawer. We keep extra batteries in the "junk" drawer in the kitchen bar drawer.

Pets: Pets are NOT allowed. Unless being used as a Service Companion. We will verify.

HOA Mandated Community Quiet Time: Weekdays from 6 PM to 7 AM and Weekends from 5 PM to 8 AM. Please be mindful of others when talking outdoors, playing music or watching television. Please turn off all outdoor lighting when not in use. DO NOT leave outdoor lighting on for extended periods of time.

Motion Detector Lights: Above the Garage Door, at the Laundry Room Door, and Front Door. Are set to come on when activated and will remain on for 10-30 second intervals. They will activate from Dusk to Dawn and will shut themselves on/off. Please do not adjust them.

Parking: Parking is limited to 2 vehicles. Vehicles are to be parked in the driveway. Please use parking brake-Driveway is steep. PLEASE TRY NOT TO HIT THE GARAGE DOOR. Parking on the road is permitted, but limited. Do not block neighbors driveways or egress in and out of the development. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner/renter.

Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. If prior to your arrival you would like to have daily maid service please let us know and we will try to work with our staff to provide you that service. This charge is in addition to your rental cleaning fee and will be quoted separately.

Ancillary Items: Please use the Beach Towels, coolers, games, scissors, knives, and various other service items provided for your use during your stay. Please do not take them home with you. If items go missing, you will be charged for their replacement plus applicable tax and transportation costs incurred by our staff to replace them.

Laundry: Because we use a rainwater catchment system and can not guarantee rainfall in our particular area we ask that you use the laundry and other water drawing facilities sparingly, so please prepare by bringing enough clothing for your stay. Please use your towels more than twice. Abide by the 26-minute cycles suggested on both washer & dryer if used. Air dry when possible. Please do not put anything in the dryer that has not been washed thoroughly first.

About our Water: The water your are using is rainwater that has come from the roof of the house into a 10k gallon multi-filtered catchment system below the house. It is ultra filtered and fine for bathing, laundry, and washing dishes, but not that tasty to drink. Use the filtered bottled water provided in the water dispenser for drinking. Additional bottles are kept in the laundry room. If you should run out of bottled water please take the empty bottles to the filling station at the Ho'Okena turn off north of the property at Mile Marker 101 to refill them and return to the house for use. Please do not lose the lids. At the end of your stay if there are empty water bottles, please place them in the laundry room with the other bottles.

Conserve our Water: Please limit your showers and do not “run” water when brushing teeth/shaving or washing dishes. Try not to run the dishwasher or laundry if not a full load. If you should experience any type of water loss, pipe shaking noises, please turn off all water, stop flushing toilets and call us immediately.

Septic: The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. Please be sparing with toilet paper and DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine hygiene products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages of up to $2,500.00. In the event you have problems with the plumbing please contact us and our staff will come to assist you. There are plungers in the laundry room and both bathrooms.

Outdoor BBQ: The BBQ is an electric grill meant to cook on. Please turn off and unplug when not in use. Clean with a moist microfiber towel and BBQ Cleaner under Kitchen sink. Please don’t allow any grease build up. Place cover on when cool. Use the BBQ utensils and cleaners available in the kitchen in the lower cabinet to the right of the oven, bottom shelf.

Item Location: We have painstakingly labeled a majority of areas throughout the home to make it easier for you to find things and to learn about the home during your stay. Please try to use these labels as a guide to where things need to go back to. Please take care of our belongings. Please wipe all small appliances down with a moist soft towel after using and before putting away. Please don't use sharp knives to chip ice in the sink without placing the gray cutting board in first, don't use the silicon baking sheets as cutting boards, or place items in the microwave or dishwasher that are not meant to be there, such as melamine plates in the microwave and KitchenAid knives in the dishwasher. Please do not take anything home with you that you didn't bring with you. It is cost prohibitive to share this home with others when visitors take items from it. Even the smallest thing like a washcloth, knife, or pair of scissors is expensive to replace. We also realize that things happen and things break or are damaged due to unforeseen circumstances. In that event, a simple heads up call or email is appreciated.

Furniture Usage: Please treat the furniture gently. Please use the coaster sets to protect the living room tables. Do not sit on the leather sofa or either of the living room chairs with lotions or oils on. Cover with a towel first. Please clean up spills immediately. Wipe cabinets and doors with a moist microfiber towels when smudged or sprayed on. Don't let children mark up our furniture or place food or drinks on them directly.

With all that said - We do want you to have an incredible time while at Blue Hawaii. We only ask you treat her with respect and aloha. We want you to think of her as your home away from home so you will want to come back to see her again and she'll look the same as the first time you walked in the front door and went, "Now this is what I'm talking about! Look at that view!".

The accommodation here is very good, and my family all like it. It's very quiet here.My family all like it here. The house faces the sea and the scenery is beautiful.The house is well equipped and the landlord is very friendly, with surfboard and beach chairs and snorkeling (URL HIDDEN) was a great trip experience.
