Your own little beach front house in hidden Salli. Swim, walk, chill, enjoy.
Price is for the whole cabin for two guests. An extra bed can be used for a third guest for a small extra charge.

The space

Built as the house for guests next to the big family house, this accommodation is all you could wish for during your stay. Fifty meters from the beach and coral reef, spacious, comfy and with its own little veranda, you'll have lots of privacy and room to do your thing. The big washroom with hot and cold water, in combination with the double bed, makes for a nice stay for two. An extra (single) bed can be used for a third guest, for a small surplus charge. There's no kitchen or airconditioning in the cabin.

Interaction with guests

Chutti (in the picture) and his family are your hosts here. Like so many of our hosts, these are not the slick, flawless tourism professionals you'll find in Nilaveli or Uppuveli: these are real people, providing real hospitality as they would to any of their other guests. Yes, occasionally you'll get lost in translation, but the solution is always just a game of charades away. Be assured that Chutti will try his very best to accommodate you. Chutti's wife makes great meals, Chutti's brother Lenus can drive you around in his van and if you're lucky you'll meet one of the calves or lazy dogs in the garden.

Had a lovely stay here, Chutti was a great host despite our language barrier. Still fun to communicate. The cottage is very clean with the best mosquito net I have come across. The beach directly in front of the property is clean and it's a great feeling to be floating out in the ocean on your own. Thank you

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying in Chutti's guesthouse for 3 nights. It is located on a beautiful beech which is accessible through a small gate at the back of the villa. The beech directly outside the villa is very clean, beautiful water but the sea floor is made up of stones so you might want to wear shoes if you go for a dip. You can walk further up the beach to find sandier entries into the water but unfortunately this area not as well looked after as Chutti's so their was rubbish scattered around. This didn't bother us though, the whole area is so beautiful we got by. Chutti and his family were very welcoming and endearing. They do not speak very much English but we always found out a way to communicate and it really just added to the feeling that you were staying in a Sri Lankan family's home. With regards to food we mostly ate breakfast at the villa and went out for dinner. I can honestly say they were some of my favourite breakfasts of the trip. Chutti sets out a table for you watching the sun rise and each morning we had a selection of fruits, daal, sambal, fresh coconut water and tea. Perfect. As for transport, the villa can be quite hard to find. It's about 10 minutes drive from Trinco which should cost about 500 rupees. As for finding your way back, We found the best way was to ask chutti to write down directions in tamal and then you could just show it a Tuk Tuk driver. In addition chutti gives you his number and was always on the other end of the line to help if you got stuck. Regarding previous reviews about the Internet. We found it didn't work very well in our villa but was just fine outside. We also were not charged for it so we feel this was very reasonable. Overall we became very fond of Chutti, his family and the villa and were sad to leave. If you are looking for an authentic Sri Lankan experience and a quite beach to yourself then I would highly recommend giving this place a go. Ben and Emma

We had a lovely two night stay here. Delicious Sri Lankan food and a beach right on the doorstep! The room is great, very clean, private and comfortable. Chutti was very welcoming and helpful. Thank you!

The White Villa is a wonderful getaway, particularly if you're seeking quiet and solitude. The food, although limited in selection, is very reasonable however the stay itself was more expensive than many other nicer places in Nilaveli. My biggest issue was with the garbage in the area. Its filthy next door and on the beach and the surrounding residents basically use the beach and ocean as their own personal toilet which is obviously a real turnoff. It's a shame since the place has so much potential but compounding that with the price, difficulty in communicating with Chutti (which itself is problematic since i had a medical emergency that needed his attention) and challenge trying to find the place, i am not sure i would stay again.

Really terrible experience Although it was great to live by the sea but this place was really really hard to find. Even tuktuk drivers didn't know it. And it was really hard to communicate with Mr. Chutti. The food they provided was just fine but the price was really too high. The toilet didn't work and wifi signal disappeared in the room. And even so Mr. Chutti tried to charged us LKR 1200 as wifi fees.

The house was decent with a secluded beach which is the only good thing about the place. The overall experience with the host wasn't great. The host prepared us food for dinner and breakfast. The quality was OK, but the price was way too high and you are left with no other options also. The room was also suffocating during the night with the ceiling fan not so effective and no option of opening the windows as well. The host provided us a table fan which saved us though for the night. But, there was a small breakage in the fan and we ended up with a heated argument with the host and finally paying 2200 LKR for the repairs. (Though the host initially demanded 5000 LKR). Overall, the place was good for its private secluded beach, but it left us with a poor experience!

Nice, clean and beautifully furnished place which gives you the opportunity for relaxing off the beaten track in Nilaveli. They were efforted to clean the unfortunately littered beach. Renting a scooter at Chutti's Villa was good to be independent and to explore the coast. Communicating with Chutti was really challenging.

Neverbeen User Profile

Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.

We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.

As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.

In Sri Lanka, Dishan manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Rohan creates listings and provides service. In Amsterdam, Marten works out international growth plans. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself and Ernst & Young does our finances.

The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Due to it recently having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. We plan to expand to ten countries before the end of 2017.
