Take a short drive or cycle through to vineyards or a trip to the wine village of Mercurey . The village dates from pre-historic times and is the most widely recognized and important wine village of the Côte Chalonnaise, producing more wines than all other village appellations.
Travel west on a 30 minute picturesque drive to historic townships of Meursault and Beaune for markets, food and wine extravagance. I recommend the Hospice in Beaune as a must see after a trip to the markets
The Véloroute (cycle route) is an ideal way to immerse yourself in the vineyards. 35 km by bike into the heart of the vineyards and heritage that will delight lovers of Burgundy wines and history lovers alike. As a couple, with family or friends, ride at your own pace and discover a different side of Burgundy! It follows 22 km of minor roads and vineyard paths used by winemakers and grape pickers. You’ll enjoy a tasty trip, punctuated as you pass through picturesque villages, continuously accompanied by the work of the vineyard. The cycleway is easy and means everyone can enjoy the impeccable alignment of vines.

Along the way, the wine villages of Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet and Santenay offer the opportunity to stop at a restaurant or café terrace. Or maybe you prefer to visit a Romanesque chapel, a château from the times of the Dukes of Burgundy, or simply enjoy visiting these character villages. Arriving in Santenay, you can extend your ride by joining the Canal du Centre and the green way along the towpath.
