Charming, historic home that speaks to the romanticism of a classic old Maine house adorned with local art. Located in the heart of a coastal village within walking distance to restaurants, galleries, and shopping.
This beautiful old historic home, is light filled, cozy and feels like a home away from home. It has many of the original features that speaks to the authenticity of an old Maine house. Adjoining front parlor rooms with a working fireplace for a rainy night only adds to the charming ambiance of this home. There is something about the energy of this house that brings a sense of comfort to those who enter it, which always bring me a sense of joy and an interest in sharing it.
There is one bedroom on the second floor that is quite spacious with a king size bed. This room is the only bedroom that has air conditioning offered and is directly off the full bath. The bedrooms on the first floor have one queen size bed and a set of twins. These rooms have fans provided. All rooms have quality bedding that includes soft sheets, a comforter, quilts with closets and bureaus to accommodate your things. There is a television with DVD player for guests to use in the main living room that is for videos only, no television or cable.
The beauty of staying here is that in addition to the accommodations, you will be on the property of Maine artist. I have been a professional artist for 14 years, so the art the adorns my home is the work of many local Maine artists that I can connect you directly with, either to meet or to purchase art from, if you so desire. I have knowledge of galleries, and artists from Portland to Rockland that can further enhance your visit here.
As a guest you will have complete access to the entire property, with the exception of the barn, which is my office and art studio. If I am on the property and the door to the building is open, then it is a free invitation for you pop your head in and see what I am up to. That is the fun part about renting from a working artist who is partially onsite.
You will receive a set of keys at check in so you may enter and leave premises at your convenience. If you are not going to make it before check in time, where you will be given the keys and shown around, we will arrange another plan. There will be a lock box for you to place the keys into at the time of departure.
Interaction with guests
The barn on this property is my office and art studio so visitors as well as myself will be on and off the property during your stay (mostly in the daytime).
I respect each individuals privacy, so you may have me engage as much or as little as you would like. I do however, encourage you to utilize my knowledge of the Midcoast to your advantage for places to go, people to meet and experience to be had.
Other things to note
This rental is in the most central location for the Midcoast. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and State Park Beach is just 10 minutes from town ( where you can also catch a ferry to Monhegan Island.
Boothbay Harbor, which has a plethra of fine dining establishments, art galleries and is home to one of the largest botanical gardens in New England is just 20 minutes down the road. Camden, Rockport and Rockland are 35 minutes north as is Brunswick, which is the same distance heading south.
The outside furniture, grill and fire pit are for your use during your stay. I just ask that you act responsibly and thoughtfully when using the fire pit or entertaining outside as I am in a neighborhood with homes close by. That said, we are a fairly quiet neighborhood so it can be quite peaceful and enjoyable.
I have lived in Midcoast Maine most of my life because it is a place that continues to draw my spirit. The art, the historic villages and homes, the landscapes and the people are what make Maine so special to me. There is nothing better or more magical than summertime on the coast of Maine, sea roses, lupines, lobsters and boat rides. I believe all people should be lucky enough to get a taste of what Maine is all about. and experience it's raw beauty.
I grew up in the restaurant business in a seasonal community, so I have a natural inclination to helping people who visit our beautiful state, get the most out of their time here. Where to go, what to see and which local character is one they just have to meet. I love to connect with people so that life experiences can happen. It's part of my nature to engage in life in this way and it brings me joy to facilitate those opportunities for myself and for others.
Aside from all that, in my everyday world I am a professional artist, clinical counselor and healer who loves the nature, people and creating beautiful spaces for people to enjoy.
