The neighbourhood

The chambre d'hotes is located 20 minutes drive from the medieval town of Cahors and 5 minutes from the nearest vineyards. Cahors Saturday morning market is one of the best in the region. Cave paintings, castles, boat trips, canoeing are all close by. The Petit Ranch pony riding school is 1/2 km away. It is an ideal base for exploring the historic delights of the Dordogne and the Lot. A lake and sports centre with restaurant near the house makes a change from relaxing by the pool. Rocamadour, Sarlat and St Cirq Lapopie are all worth a vist. 5 minutes walk from the house is a small village where a lively community run cafe is open twice a month. This is unspoiled rural France at its best.

Other things to note

The house is 5 minutes from a circular walking route which is one of 17 in the area. We are close to a lake where there is fishing, canoeing, swimming, tennis etc as well as a snack bar and restaurant.

Thank you so much Tanya and Eamon for the warm Irish welcome. Your home is so lovely and to come back after a hot day in the sun sightseeing and dive into the pool and lounge on the beds by the pool was great! The breakfasts were wonderful and the rooms so bright and airy. We hope to come back to this stunning part of France. The villages were gorgeous and there is so much to see and do within 30 minutes drive.

Thank you for your very useful feedback! We will have mirrors and hooks in place for next season and the shower drainage has been sorted out. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again.

Perfect stop for our family! Thanks to the friendly host, we felt at home at once. Our son felt in love with a cat, called black panther. An indication how at ease our kids were during our short trip. We got a short tour of the gites as well, we loved it!

Our host was very welcoming and friendly. The description of the facility was very accurate. The surrounding area was beautiful and rural. A car was required to see all the wonderful scenery and to get about to view. The state of the roads are very good so this was not a problem. The scenic rewards are well worth the effort.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have stayed in France. Congratulations to Tanya and Eamon on their beautiful house and amazing life project! We were only there for one night and felt very welcome, slept really well (the beds are VERY comfortable). My youngest daughter who is 11 has already started reading Eamon's book and can't put it down! I now have to wait my turn to read it. Thanks again for your warm welcome and hopefully see you again as we would like to come back and see more is the area.

We were made to feel very welcome, Tanya put on quite the spread, and pulled it off.

A gem of a find! Beautiful home and a wonderfully warm and welcoming family. We only wish we could have spent longer soaking up the atmosphere. Highlights were the comfy bed, beautiful ensuite and the handful of freshly picked plums that Tanya and Eamon's daughter gifted us on departure! As a bonus I also bought Eamon's book, which I'm currently racing through, and is all about their relocation to stunning Laborie. We'd love to return!
