Lovelllllllly to wake up in this location, and see all the rowers on a Saturday morning!

This was our first time with airbnb. The location on the river is tranquil and yet there is so much to see from this beautiful and spacious boat. Swans, heron, moorhen, calves, joggers cyclists, dog walkers, fishermen, and the rowing boat crews are fascinating to watch on the other side of river. We took our folding bikes and would otherwise recommend hiring. Great Lido with a huge outdoor pool on the river en-route to Cambridge centre.

This is a special place to be in a crowded city. Total quiet at night, and waking to the gentle sound of sculls swishing past as you look across to the common where cows are standing by the river having a drink.. Early morning tea on deck in your pyjamas, with the sun rising in the East. Very nice bathroom with effective shower (and a bath!), and the living quarters and kitchen very well thought out and smart. Compare this with a hotel and you will realize what you've been missing.

The barge was lovely, clean and spacious. Richard left tea, milk and preserves which was great for breakfast and something a lot of Airbnb hosts don't provide. Richard also gave us a small refund as the wifi wasn't available which was unexpected but much appreciated . Will definitely stay again when next in Cambridge.

Really enjoyed our weekend on Richards boat, nice and clean, well laid out and appointed. Its about a 40 minute walk to the old centre of Cambridge we wish we had taken our bikes as nice cycle routes. There is nowhere nice to eat locally so its a car or walk into Cambridge centre. All in all I would highly recommend as a place to stay.

Loved our stay at the canal house, so cosy and a fab view of the river. Richard was very accommodating and provided milk and breakfast things, which was a pleasant surprise after a long journey. Hope we can stay there again!

The toilet needs pumping which is a continual pain, as in any boat. The bed in a bit small and a very hard mattress. On the river the rowing eights come past from six in the morning, with the cox shouting instructions. Apart from that, a great location, very quiet and convenient.

Richard User ProfileRichard is a superhost.

I have lived and worked on the river cam for nearly 20 years, as a boat builder and more recently as ships captain for a local passenger cruiser. I travelled the world when I was 21 but now find I generally visit Catalunya for holidays to see friends from university. I have worked for your space apartments who provide a similar service to air bnb although on a much more industrial scale, so I know what makes a good stay for guests. I offer a unique product at an affordable rate and consider service to be paramount. If you have anything you would like to know about me or my houseboat please ask.
