Description

The space

We offer a light bright spacious apartment that is located in a beautiful rural area teeming with wildlife. Walking, cycling, fishing, ski-ing and many other activities are all easily available.
We sleep four in one double bedroom and one with adult sized bunk beds.

Guest access

As well as a fully equipped kitchen, guests have access to a freezer, washing machine and tumble drier and an area for storing fishing gear, skis or bikes.

Interaction with guests

We love to meet and greet our guests and help them with booking restaurants and advising them about the local area. Other than that, we leave you to your own devices and enjoy your privacy. We live in the old Mill behind the apartment but Tanar View faces away from our property.

The neighbourhood

Glen Tanar is a stunning area of Royal Deeside in Scotland. From the elevated deck at Tanar View, you will enjoy seeing a variety of wildlife. Two roe deer fawns were born in the field in front of the apartment this Spring. In October, enjoy the roaring of the red stag rut. Relax. Enjoy. Explore.

Getting around

A car is essential for both getting to us and getting around (although once here, there are amazing cycling rides and walks nearby), There is parking right by the apartment.

Other things to note

We offer free Wifi and iPod docking stations but here is also a CD player with lots of CDs and also lots of DVDs if you wish to relax in front of the wood burning stove.
Tanar View is rated as a four star property by the Scottish Tourist Board.

Perfect all round, there was brilliant communication from Liz from the word go and Tanar view couldn't be any more perfect. The property is very well equipped, beautiful views, vey clean with loads of lovely extras including a home made cake and bread (yum). Comfy beds and it was the perfect base for our little highland break. I can't thank Liz and neil enough, we will certainly be back when we get the chance and would defo recommend. Thanks again x

Response from Liz:
Delighted to host you all, Emily. Loved your Dad's wee doggies too! A dairy free cake was quite a challenge but let's hope it tasted better than it looked! Glad you liked the beds - they all have brand new mattresses and quite a few guests have commented on them. The weather was unseasonably chilly but you did get some beautiful sunshine. Hope to see you again sometime.

We had booked rather late but Liz was very quick to get in touch and quickly confirmed everything. The cottage was exactly as described; when we arrived there was a fawn and doe over the fence to the field. There is a lot of lovely light and attractive space. It is very well fitted out so we were able to cook easily. On our arrival we found a bottle of wine, fresh flowers, a lovely welcome letter, butter, milk and scones and bread freshly made by Neil. The bathrobes were a comfortable touch. Once Liz knew we wanted to cook, she left us fresh vegies from her garden. Liz gave us additional information, although the folder they provide was very detailed; sights, restaurants, how to use appliances. It is a warm and cosy cottage, we would have lit the wood stove which was all set up ready, but it was to warm. It was so comfortable, we had to drag ourselves out to do some sight-seeing! it's made easier by this being such a gorgeous part of Scotland. Thanks Liz, and also Neil for the baking and lone bagpipe serenade each evening; loved it!

Liz provided a good description how to get to Tanar View and made us feel welcome right from the start: bottle of wine, beer in the fridge, self made bread and plenty of firewood ! We also received rgeat tips for dinner. The place is really quiet, yet it is within easy reach of shops and restaurants. Had a wonderful time there roaming around the river Dee and exploring Royal Deeside.

It was a pleasure hosting you, Trudy and Irene and we hope you can return sometime. I'm glad we were able to offer you some good tips on 'where to go' and as you had indicated what you liked doing in advance, it was quite easy to help! Thankyou for leaving the apartment so lovely and tidy also.
