Neighbourhood highlights

Porthleven is a beautiful traditional historic fishing village on the South coast of Cornwall. Although it is a popular tourist location, it has a thriving community with wonderful friendly people. Fisherman land their catch daily and there is a great fishmonger in the village.

It boasts a small supermarket selling local produce, a coffee roastery, brewery tap house and two of the best pasty shops in Cornwall as well as numerous independent shops,, galleries, restaurants and cafe's. Close to the harbour is Penrose estate and Loe Pool, Cornwall's largest freshwater lake, separated from the sea by a sand and shingle bar.

There are many options to eat and drink in Porthleven. We have 3 fantastic traditional pubs, our favourite is the Atlantic Inn where on a sunny day you can enjoy your drink overlooking the Atlantic ocean. There are many restaurants to suit all tastes, our favourites are Kota, Kota Kai, and the Square. We also have two fish and chip shops, and a deli, and you can eat in or takeaway pizza from Go Nauti.

There are numerous walks around Penrose estate, taking you across streams, sand and wooded areas, and you can hire cycles with trailers for children from nearby Helston to enjoy the area further. You can walk from Porthleven on the SW coastal path towards either The Lizard or Lands End both with spectacular views. It is a very beautiful area of Cornwall.

In the summer, you can rent SUP boards or Kayaks from Vertical Blue in the harbour; you'll also see many of the locals harbour jumping, which is great fun for the kids and adults too. Bike hire is also available from the ship yard cycle hire

With a visitor's pass, you can work out at the gym behind the shipyard market, which also runs classes throughout the week.
