Where you’ll be

Granbury, Texas, United States

This is a very hilly area that may be good for hiking and biking along the numerous roads.

There is also a small boat ramp 3/10 of a mile from the house. So if you kayak, canoe, fish or jet ski feel free to bring them along.

This home is location is in Hood County between Granbury and Glen Rose for easy access to both towns.

Beautiful historic downtown Granbury offers upscale dining as well as burgers. This charming small town square is approx 8 miles from the Hideaway. (The best way is to go north on Hwy 144/Morgan St. and cross over 377. Proceed to Pearl St and turn right. Within in a few blocks you will be at the square. Pearl St is one of the streets surrounding the old court house.) My favorite restaurant is the 1890 located on Pearl St. Only opened a few days a week. Check internet for hours and menu. Highly recommend making a reservation days in advance.

Additionally, the Granbury historic square also offers a variety of events throughout the year to include an Old Fashioned 4th of July with fireworks at dusk, as well as a variety of festivals in the Fall and at Christmas time the decorated square is breathtaking.

Moreover, just north on Hwy 144 heading toward Granbury there are two bar and grills located on the water that offer a variety of food and on weekends there is a live music venue.

Traveling south on 144 you will find the small rustic town of Glen Rose. This town invites you to cool off in Big Rocks Park or explore Fossil Rim Wildlife Center or Dinosaur Valley State Park.

Further, downtown Glen Rose offers shopping and dining on the square, as well as a variety of events throughout the year to include a Blue Grass Festival twice a year (Spring and Fall).

A restuarant personal favorite in Glen Rose is the Riverhouse Grill just past the square on Barnard St. Check hrs. on the Internet. Only open Wednesday thru Saturday and hours vary. I recommend making a reservation. Deserts and sauces are house made and I have been told the key lime pie is awesome and highly recommended Please check the Internet for hours and menu.

The Sexton Mill one block south of the square is open air restaurant and bar overlooking the Paluxy River. See Internet for menu and hours. There is also Blackies on the square.

To the west of Glen Rose is the Loco Coyote Grill. A fun, primarily outdoor venue with music at night. Opened seasonally and primarily on the weekends. Check internet for hours.

Golf is also available near by at Squaw Valley Public Golf Course.

For those guests that just want to relax and cook/grill at home the nearest grocery store is north on 144 and is 7.2 miles from the cabin.

Additionally, the Lake Granbury Marina (located next to Stumpy’s Bar/Grill) rents a variety of water craft. It is north on Hwy 144 ( known as Morgan St) just inside the Granbury city limits on the right. Location is 6.2 miles from the house on the right.

To the east of Glen Rose 17 miles from the cabin in the town of Rainbow, Tx is the Brazos Outdoor Center which offers tubing on the Brazos river. Just call 682 262 0925 for more information.
