The space

Apartement for rent only in July and August (see calendar for availabilities).

Two bedrooms available: one bedroom has 1 double bed, the other bedroom one single bed. There is a sofa bed for one person, kitchen, bathroom. 4 people maximum.

We also have a wooden baby bed with bars which can be used by a child up to about 4 and half year-old if you remove the bars (our 4 year-old son use it when he sleeps in our bedroom)

You 'll enjoy staying in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Bordeaux, in the historical district, near cafes, restaurants, shops, independent film theater and museums/galleries.

It will take you 3 minutes by foot to reach the 3 mile-long Garonne riverbank promenade: people gather there to walk, bike, run or simply sit in front of the water. This is one of our favorite places in town.

Interaction with guests

We will be away on vacation so it will be difficult for us to give information and support, so we prefer independant travelers.

Of course, we will be available in case of emergency.

Other things to note

About heat in the summer:

ON HOT / SUNNY DAYS, you should open the windows before 8AM to let in the cool air, and then leave them closed until the night (to prevent the hot air outside from coming in). Also you MUST close the shutters until about 4PM otherwise the apartment will get hot.

We will provide 2 fans (as air conditionner can't be installed in old buildings in Bordeaux), but we ask our guests to please to do the above actions (that French people do) to prevent heat built-up.

About noise:

None of the people who stayed with us cared about noise, but we know some people do, so we prefer to give information about it below :

Please note that the center of Bordeaux is lively, especially in the summer and including at night.

One bedroom (double bed) is facing the court yard so it is quiet.

The other bedroom (one single bed) has double-glazed windows but if you are very sensitive to noise, you might still hear some noise, mosty if people are screaming in the streets. Otherwise, you'll be fine.

However, the living room - where one person can sleep on the sofa bed (made to sleep on) has single glazed windows so she/he will hear some noise in the night, so please bring ear plug if you are sensitive to noise.

What a fabulous apartment - the perfect location, more than comfortable and with a super host. Maryline went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and gave us great tips on what to do, where to eat etc. Highly recommended.

Very nice apartment, well located in a charming part of town, very well equipped and nicely decorated. Very quiet, clean. Perfect for 4 people but can sleep 5. A good address ! We did not have the chance to meet with Maryline but everything went perfect : flexibility with our arrival/departure times, information received before the trip. Definitely a good address !

My colleague Francesca and me had a wonderful time in Bordeaux! We loved to stay at the beautiful and modern apartment of Maryline and François!! Attending a Congress at the Palais de la Bourse we had just a 5 min walk along the riverside, therefore arriving always on time. The apartment is situated perfectly. In the middle of the historical centre all important sites are nearby, as there are also cafés, bars, bistros, shops, romantic squares, the river Garonne, St-Piere bridge – one more beautiful than the other. Maryline and François were just super hosts, kindly waiting for our late arrival and giving us lots, lots of tips on town exploration. We enjoyed very much the sunny and quiet apartment and felt a little bit like “Bordelaises”! We would love to come back to watch a movie at the Utopia movie theatre that we unfortunately missed! So: highly !!!! recommended!

Maryline is a charming host and very helpful with great directions for finding the apartment, bus and train travel and local advice on finding the laundromat, supermarket, etc. Everything is so close to the apartment which is superbly renovated and very comfortable, the kitchen has everything you'll need if you want to cook but there are so many restaurants within a short walking distance that you'll probably only want to use the kettle and toaster! Lift is small but works well, fabulous wide stairs available for extra exercise! Bring ear plugs if noise at night worries you as the French know how to party late into the night! Bordeaux is a fabulous city well worth visiting and easy to walk around as well as having good trams, or hire a bike, enjoy the river! We found the people very warm and friendly and happy to engage in conversation in English with us. Enjoy as much cheese and wine as possible, we don't get as much at such low prices in Australia!

We had an overall excellent stay at Maryline's beautiful apartment in the heart of Bordeaux. Her very clean and nicely decorated two bedroom apartment was situated overlooking a town square with various restaurants and cafes. Everything one would need was within a 5 minute walk -- groceries--1 minute, wine shop--20 seconds, the river--30 seconds, and a multitude of restaurants and cafes all around. The main shopping area was a 6-7 minute walk. Really though, the best experience was the experience with Maryline herself. She was so helpful--especially since we had a disaster with our luggage after flying into Paris and taking the train to Bordeaux. Our luggage came in a day after us and Air France was just NOT helpful in telling us when and how it would be delivered to us in Bordeaux. We called Maryline, as we could not communicate with authorities since our knowledge of French was so minimal. She honestly spent the most part of one day helping us out -- from calling Air France, the French postal service, and some private delivery companies, to making sure the cab knew exactly where to take us to get the luggage. It was honestly so helpful and considerate that she went out of her way to do this for us. If it weren't for her, we had relinquished all hope of ever retrieving our suitcases!! For a great experience in Bordeaux, I highly recommend Maryline's apartment as it is not only a beautiful apartment in an amazing location, but the experience with Maryline is such a pleasant one, that it adds to the overall experience of a wine country vacation!

Hi,

We are a friendly couple with a 4 year-old son, enjoying so much living in the center of Bordeaux!

We both lived several years abroad and before we had our son, we used to rent our spare bedroom to travelers. Now we rent our comfortable apartment to travelers when we are out-of-town !

Enjoy your stay in Bordeaux !
