Welcome to Tearaway, our family hut and favourite place to enjoy long days on the beach; for relaxing, fishing, BBQing, swimming in the sea and heaps more.
Sat amongst 300 huts on a unique sand spit, Tearaway is on a site of special scientific interest and the surroundings offer beautiful beach walks, forest adventures, bird watching, water sports and more.
You can reach the beach by ferry or forest path and you’ll be treated to both sunrise and sunset over the water. Welcome, to Mudeford beach.

The space
The hut is right on the sand and takes 10 seconds to reach the harbour and 30 seconds to reach the sea by foot.
The bi-fold doors at the front of the hut capture the sunrise over the sea which is glorious, with views across to the needles on The Isle of White. The front deck is perfect for sitting out with a quiet morning coffee or brunch.
There is a beautifully soft sandy patch out the back of the hut (great to watch the children playing in from the back deck) which is a perfect sun trap in the afternoon and provides shelter from the wind.
Sleeping arrangements are flexible with the options of a king size, single and cot bed upstairs (with a hatch door for safety with little ones in mind) and two pull out doubles downstairs.
The hut itself has small proportions, but it’s garden (the entire beach) never makes it feel cramped. Innovative storage solutions allow you plenty of stowing space for food, clothes and bedding (duvets and pillows are provided but sheets can be provided for a small extra cost).
Whatever the weather, there’s always something to do here.
There is a paddle board under the hut which is available for guests to use.
If you’re into chilling, this place is the one.

Guest access
Every nook and cranny.

Other things to note
The hut encompassess the going back to basics notion.
You’ll need to adopt a scraping of a ‘hunter-gatherer’ mentality, as you’ll need to fill up the fresh water tank on occasion, empty the waste water tank, use the clean public toilets and showers and not worry about a few grains of sand in your bed. There is a hut owners private toilet and shower block too, both of which are just yards from the hut.

Location

Bournemouth, England, United Kingdom

As the beach is fairly isolated, you’ll need to bring all the food, drink and clothing with you on your move down. Your best bet is to either book the Land Rover which will take you direct to the front (hut) door (visithengistburyhead.co.uk 01202 425517). Alternatively, drop off your load at Mudeford quay and then park your car either on the quay car park or find some free off-road parking nearby.
There is a shop and mini street food style area on the beach for any top ups or times when you’re too lazy to cook.
Nature really is the vibe here but if you wanted to explore further, you could reach Christchurch (daily ferries to take you up river) or a hop in the car to Southbourne, Boscombe and Bournemouth. You’ve also got the truly stunning Jurassic coast and New forest a short distance away.

Yo! I’m either travelling for work with folks pitching our iced coffee into retailers or I’m checking out new places with my family.
