Our stylish loft has a freestanding bath and big windows. It is at the top of our family home in a quiet, leafy street. Breakfast is brought to your room. A separate bed is available for twin rather than double sharing, or for a third guest.

The space

Our loft room is self contained on its own floor. It comfortably fits two. You can keep the double sliding doors open to the ensuite bathroom making the room extra large. If you need a third person in the room we can bring an extra bed up. The room is bright and airy with dark wooden floor boards. The house is on a quiet, leafy cul de sac where children play on the street and it has a small garden.

There's a kettle, tea and coffee for you in the room. There is WiFi.

Guest access

Guest have access through the front door and hall with their own key. The room is on its own floor at the top of the house. There is no access to other rooms in the house except when we are away when you are welcome to use the kitchen and sitting room. You are always welcome to use a shelf in the fridge in the kitchen to keep food. And if you would like to stay for more than just a few days we'll make a time for you to use the kitchen to heat your supper.

The kitchen is usually a bustle of children, laundry and piles of homework so I'll leave breakfast on a tray for you outside your room.

There are small gardens at the back and front where you are welcome to sit.

There is a hair dryer and an iron in your room. Please do ask if you need the ironing board.

Interaction with guests

I run The Idler Academy and love meeting new people. It is not an idle job though so I am busy and sadly won't have time to chat much. The children take my time in the evening and I either work at home or leave for the shop in the day.

Other things to note

Local highlights: Portobello, Bush Hall and Diner, Shepherd's Bush Empire, Westfield shopping centre, Holland Park, Hummingbird Cafe, great restaurants in Westfield. There is a great laundrette on the corner of the street and dry cleaning opposite as well. Damas Gate sells great fresh fruit and vegetables.

This was our second visit, so no surprises. It really is most conveniently situated, such a peaceful street. Comfy bed, friendly hosts, a relaxed family home.

Great communication from start to finish. Well positioned house close to the underground. Delightful hosts, full family effort, and made it almost like staying in a perfect bed and breakfast. Room at the top of the house was big, warm, clean and comfortable, including a beautiful ensuite with roll top bath. Tea & Coffee supplied in the room, plus a tasty breakfast of pastries first thing in the morning. Clean sheets and towels supplied. Victoria and her friendly family are great Airbnb hosts, highly recommended.

Victoria is the perfect host. Friendly, welcoming, warm and helpful. The room was spacious, cosy, nice and clean with an adjoining bathroom with a stand alone bath. An orange juice with a couple of pastries was left outside my room every morning which was nice. Highly recommended.

Victoria was a lovely host, making us feel very welcome within her beautiful home. Even though we were sharing the house with her family, our room at the top of the stairs felt very private and cosy, complete with its own en suite bathroom and tea/coffee facilities. The two velux skylight windows made the room feel open and bright, and the decor was fresh, modern and yet homely. Very, very clean too. Victoria also accommodated our strange vegan ways when it came to our breakfast, which she left outside our door every morning. It may not be the most central location, but Shephard's Bush is a great place in and of itself, is an excellent base if you want to explore West London, is really close to Westfield for the shopping, is not too far from Notting Hill and Portobello Road, and there are two tube stops and lots of buses within walking distance. I'd definitely recommend Victoria as a host, and her private room as a place to stay for a weekend in the big city. Many thanks!!

A very welcoming family, a very comfortable, quiet and private room. Very convenient and good value parking in Westfield shopping centre, which couldn't be easier for the Central Line, the overground, and busses.

Victoria is so warm and welcoming and this reflected my whole stay. Lovely, spacious and peaceful loft room in a warm and lovely family home. Great location in vibrant Shepherd's Bush. This is an incredibly hospitable place to stay and the icing on the cake? A fresh bar of Pears soap which only added to the gorgeous en suite bathroom. Good value for money.
