The space
The "Gasthaus zum Zollhaus" is actually an old customs house, which was developed in the seventies by my grandparents into a guesthouse, which they passionately operated for the "German Summer Fresheners" in addition to their agriculture. In order to get the customs house, I decided to "escape" a few years ago. Although everything is under construction and rebuilding with us, I am finally looking forward to opening the doors again for new guests.
The apartments:
For this purpose, we have converted two of the former guest rooms into kitchens on the second floor, so that both wings can be used separately as holiday apartments. These are each around 85 square meters and offer sleeping accommodations for up to seven guests (three double rooms - two with bathroom in the room/ one with bathroom in the hallway). For large groups (extra charge) there is the possibility to book 3 more rooms on the second floor (2 double rooms/ 1 single room). When remodeling, it was important to me to preserve the original character of the rooms as much as possible, so we welcome especially lovers who appreciate rustic authenticity more than modern perfection.
Of course, the old rustic inn on the ground floor is also available to our groups and guests as a lounge, where there was a lot of hustle and bustle from morning to night. Here we also provide drinks on request.
Be outside:
Our inn with the adjoining yard, has a beautiful secluded location, right by the forest. In the garden you can set up (existing) loungers, parasols, seating groups or hammocks. A barbecue area is available and our playground is also back in construction.
For the children, there are goats, chickens, cows, calves and rabbits to look at and feed. All my guests are welcome to have vitamins free of our fruit trees (cherry, plums, apple, pear), depending on the season. For breakfast, I like to get fresh milk on the table. Eggs and homemade jams can be bought on request. I will also organize a barbecue evening for you on request with freshly made salads, drinks and meat from the local butcher.
Basically, you can have everything from me, except for ironed linens! It will be washed with love and dried in the sun, but the ironing is just not in it anymore:)
Leisure activities:
From our farm there are numerous opportunities for excursions and activities. Apart from hikes through the directly adjacent forest, in just a few kilometers you are in the Czech Republic; five minutes drive away is the Silver Lake, with piled beach section for the children. If you go up to Waldmünchen (10 min drive), you can enjoy the beach on the larger Perlsee. The Cherchov (15min drive) and Hohe Bogen with summer toboggan run (55min drive) invite you to hike. In the surrounding small towns (about 10 min) you will find all shopping facilities (Norma/ Netto/ Edeka/ Tedi/ candle factory/ pharmacy/ etc.), cafes and an ice cream parlor. Also the next two surrounding villages (5 min drive each) offer Aunt Emma shops, bakery, butcher and restaurants.
To me:
I originally grew up with my parents at Lake Chiemsee. After graduating from high school, I lived in Italy for seven years and studied biology there with a focus on Genetics. This was followed by a biologist in Berlin for a few years. As my grandparents' home - the "Gasthof zum Zollhaus" - threatened with the lack of interest of all the descendants, I decided to turn my back on the city and preserve the family property. Today, as a full-time farmer, I have not regretted this decision. But even if I don't miss traveling (yet), it's becoming a bit alone in my beautiful secluded location. That's why I'm all the more happy that we can finally open the doors to new guests again.
