Location

Kingarth, Scotland, United Kingdom

The Isle of Bute is one of the most accessible of the Scottish islands, less than two hours from Glasgow (including a short 35 minute ferry crossing). Tigh Na Ceol is located in Kingarth on the south of the island, approximately 15 minutes from Rothesay where the main shops, cafes and restaurants are located. A 10 minute walk from the house is The Kingarth Hotel, a traditional country pub which serves food from 12pm-9pm every day.

Bute is a popular tourist destination offering a variety of landscapes, beaches and countryside. There are many walks on the island including the West Island Way (which starts in Kilchattan Bay), along with cycling routes, sailing and kayaking opportunities and three golf courses. The island is haven for bird-watchers and other wildlife to spot including red deer, seals, basking sharks and dolphins.
Mount Stuart's gothic mansion and gardens and Rothesay's Castle which dates back to the 13th century are both interesting historical sites. The island is also famous for its annual Jazz Festival and Highland Games.
