Richard was a warm and welcoming host. The room was as described - characterful and cosy if not a little tired. Absolutely fine for a short stay. We liked the artwork around the house.

I have stayed in some fabulous budget airbnb - unfortunately, this definitely is not one of them... Richard was accommodating and dog friendly. However, the guest room, is nothing like that shown in the picture. The room in the 'picture' looks (as explained on airbnb) warm and …

Response from Richard:
I am not surprised by this review as the guest had made his complaint to me in the morning at which time I apologised that he was unhappy with the accommodation and offered him his money back. I do not think MIcklemus had read how have I described my house. I would like to say that the guest who stayed the night before left a positive review and told me he was very happy with the room as have all the many guests who have stayed over the years in that small room and also the double room. Friends stay also and there are NO bedbugs. A friend is staying as I write and has had no problems at all and says he is very comfortable and appreciates the ‘ramshackle’’ qualities of the house and the view from the bed over to the wooded hills. Micklemus only told me he was going to arrive three hours late when I phoned him when he had not arrived at the time arranged which was between 5 and 7. He finally arrived, with his excitable dog, after 10pm. I have put in my description of the house and amenities that parking is only available for a small car. I actually told him not to drive up to the house but to park beyond the pub at the bottom of the lane which he said he would do as he had very little baggage and it would give the dog a run. In fact he did drive his big pick up along the narrow lane with a sharp turn to the cul de sac my house is on and had difficulty turning and leaving. He was clearly disgruntled after the difficulty with the parking. I had changed the sheets and duvet cover that day and they fitted perfectly. The pillow cases were also newly washed fresh ones. There was no dirt on the mattress and I had also vacuumed and dusted the room that same day. The building material he spoke of, which I did point out to him, is a sheet of sound insulation that can be put in the window when the drums are being used. I had not realized the bottom of the lamp was loose and I have now replaced it. The cd’s he mentioned were stacked against the far wall. This is my son’s drumming room by the way. I am, of course sorry that Micklemus felt the need to write such a damning review especially as I had accepted his complaints, apologised and offered him his money back. I urge possible future guests to take with a hefty pinch of salt what he has said. I will take a picture of the room to put on the airbnb site.

With only a few hours notice Richard was accommodating & happy to help. His advert was accurate, since I after a base to repack & a bed to sleep in it was just great. The offer of soup for dinner was good, with plenty available for breakfast. Thanks Richard.
