We stayed a month on Domenico and Marta's farm. After the initial shock of 4 nervous novices riding bikes 20-25 minutes each way to the public beach every day (part way on a busy road with our children), we fell in love with our country home and with our gracious hosts. Domenico went out of his way to drive us from and to the train station in Grosetto, and even drove us to and from the station when we went on a day trip to Pisa. Marta was very kind and provided us with veggies from her garden. We didn't have a car, but coped with cycling almost every day about 2 kilometres each way to one of the only small grocery stores in Marina di Grosetto. The public beaches, surrounded by gorgeous sands dunes, are spectacular. Tip: mornings on the beach are calmer. Winds get very strong in afternoons. All in all the farm was a great haven from the hubbub in the marina. We feel like we made good friends with our hosts. Don't expect a mansion or a 4-star hotel. The apartment is serviceable but could use some sprucing up, especially in the bathroom. All in all, though, it's clean and comfortable.

Domenico & his wife were wonderful hosts. The place itself was beautiful and peaceful. Domenico was very helpful especially when I lost the bike lock, he came to where we were and changed the lock straightaway. He also gave us vegetables from his garden which was very sweet of him and it tasted delicious! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to escape the city! Domencio was truly a fantastic host, always smiling and very friendly.

We enjoyed an amazing time at Domenico's farm. The scenery is stunning and the farm is amazingly quaint. The accommodation was perfect with everything that we could possibly need provided, including Internet access. The bed was comfortable and the apartment was full of amazing original furniture some dating back a hundred years. The hot water for the shower required some patience to get right, but this simply added to the quaint nature of this rural idyll. Apart from which, with temperatures no lower than 36c, cold showers were more in order :) The farm is situated outside of Marina di Grosseto but Domeinco provides well maintained bicycles included in the cost of renting the apartment and the ride down to the beach is very easy and takes no more than ten minutes of gentle cycling. Most of the route is on a cycle track although a couple of points requires cycling on the road, however the drivers in the area are obliging and considerate, far more so than in the UK. Domeinco is an amazing and lovely host. During our stay we met with him several times and we can safely say, he is one of the nicest most friendly people we have ever met. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Domenico and he went out of his way to help us during our stay. Domenico breeds Arabian horses on the farm and will proudly, and rightly, show off his beautiful horses and the prizes they have attained. In Marina di Grosseto you will find a first rate supermarket as soon as you enter the town. The town itself has many restaurants and bars and the beaches are beautiful. Whilst there are free public beaches, I would recommend paying the 15 euros per day for two sunbeds and a parasol. In our opinion, the beaches towards the Northern end of Marina di Grosseto, our favourite being Bagno Giglio, are better and the owners were both accommodating and forgiving of our lack of Italian. All in all, our stay on the farm and in Marina di Grosseto was amazing and we recommend both staying at Domenico's farm and the area.

The pictures really don't do this lovely apartment justice. The place is much bigger, nicer and more comfortable than they suggest. Domenico was an amazing host, always going above and beyond. We had a great stay. We arrived really late as our journey was delayed by 7hrs. Domenico stayed in contact to make sure we were ok. When we arrived at 00:20am he met us at the door and insisted on carrying our massive suitcases up the beautiful staircase to the apartment. He had provided tea, coffee, bread, milk etc. as he knew we would be arriving too late to shop. All the rooms had loads of space and were spotlessly clean. The kitchen is the only room that wasn't big but had everything we needed. Domenico had provided a travel cot set up in our room for our 2-year-old daughter, which still left us plenty of space. The sofas were very comfortable and would be good single beds for larger groups. The estate itself was like a big run down farmhouse (which added to it’s charm) with only part of the big building being used. The garden area was available to us but at this time of year it was a bit dry for us to want to sit outside in the evenings. However it was lovely to sit on the balcony in the evening and watch the sunset on the neighboring farmlands. Domenico brought the horses out to the fields in the mornings much to the delight of my daughter. It was great to borrow the bikes (one had a child seat) and make the very easy/short ride to the Marina di Grosseto. The paths/roads are surrounded by pine trees, flowers and the sound of cicadas. The Marina-di-Grosseto was like a small holiday resort, it was nice to take our daughter to one of the establishments on the beach and let her play in the play areas with other small children. However I would really recommend making the 25minute drive to Marina-di-Alberese for an untouched/unspoiled yet safe sandy beach inside the Maremma national park. They have a good system for only allowing a certain number of cars so it was never too busy. Everyone took shade from the sun in driftwood shelters or tying a sheet to a driftwood sticks to make a mini tent. The sea was perfect for swimming and beach great for building sandcastles. Our host Domenico (staying in the apartment on the floor below) was always helpful and super quick. We asked if any of the bikes had baskets, they didn't but he had one installed that day. We actually had the hot-water stop working in the shower late-ish one evening, he let us use the one in his apartment and had the plumber in the following morning which fixed the issue. He took my wife and daughter into the fields to get pictures with the horses. He, with is wife and son, were lovely and always happy to help and speak to us.

Domenico provided a good base to spend three days on the sea for my family of 4. We travelled with a train from Roma which was spoiled by railway strike on top of spoiled mobile communication. Nevertheless Domenico somehow managed to meet us at the platform of the Grosseto station 2,5 hours after expected arrival. We enjoed the stay biking to the beach by all family. Grosseto old town we visited by bus living bikes near supermarket. All bikes Domenico kindly provided for free. Domenico left a very pleasant impression being very attentive and hospital. Appartment in a farm was clean and well equipped perfectly fitting for family stay close to the beach.

We really enjoyed Domenico and his farm. He was very welcoming and kind. The farm was beautiful and the horses were fun to watch. There are many cats on the property which was also enjoyable. The garden is a great place for breakfast of dinner. We loved having the opportunity to use the bicycles. Everything was very close via bike. The bikes were in good shape and came with baskets and locks. The apartment was cozy and the bathroom was excellent. The bathtub was great for relaxing after a long day at the beach. The wifi worked well and helped us to find our many locations. The living room is very dark unless you open the windows, which have no screens, only shutters. We did get several bug bites, but it is summer time so it is to be expected. No fault of the host. We really loved Grossetto and our stay with Domenico. Check out the Paladin Pub for pizza and Chicceria (spelling?) for gelato! Very very good! Thank you Domenico for a great stay!
