Great location

When we found Wilcott Pines nearly 4 years ago, we fell in love at first site. You will, too! Covering nearly 3 acres on private Governor Bond Lake, the 3,800 sq. ft., two-story house is a log cabin built in the early '80's, completely modernized to comfortably host up to 15 people. Our listing price is for 4 guests. It's $25 per guest, per night additional fee, reflected in your final booking. We are 100% house-trained, well-behaved pet friendly. Please let us know if you have more than 2.

The space
Because Wilcott Pines covers so much area, there a several spaces where small groups can meet and be separate from one another. There is also enough wide open space in the house for a very large group to be together. This makes Wilcott Pines perfect of any kind of large meeting, executive retreat, writers group, family reunion, etc. And caterers love our kitchens! A full kitchen, including refrigerator, stove, oven, and sink on the lower level allows food preparation to be done away from the main living area. Please contact us for special, one-day meeting prices.

The property is near the tip of a peninsula with a full 180 degree view of the lake, we are witness to a wide variety of avian wildlife. Depending on the time of year, we have pelicans, geese, ducks, cormorants, herons, egrets, eagles and many song birds. The lake is stocked full of fish and at any given time you will see several fishing boats on the lake.

Guest access
Governor Bond Lake is a private, residential, non-commercial lake. ALL motorized water vehicles must be licensed by the City of Greenville. You are welcome to bring kayaks, canoes, paddle-boats, etc. We have 2 kayaks you are welcome to use. Non-motorized vehicles DO NOT require registration or licensing. GUESTS MAY NOT USE OUR MOTORIZED WATERCRAFT. You must agree to follow the Rules of the Lake, which are included in the Guest Manual.

If you want to bring your own boat, you must first get a permit from the Town of Greenville, 404 S. Third St., Greenville, IL 62246 (618-664-1648). You can use the existing open boatslip, or moor directly to the dock. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you want to do this.

Other things to note
Oh, did I forget to mention the dry sauna in the lower level bathroom? It's awesome! Full operating instructions are in the Guest Manual, but it is super easy to operate and has an 8 hr. delay timer. It fully heats in 30 mins. and can get up to 160 degrees. So it's not a toy for small children to play with. Warning signs and cautions are posted to your protection.

Location

Greenville, Illinois, United States

Our neighborhood is 100% residential and very peaceful and quiet. We are located on a peninsula cul de sac with only 4 other houses nearby. We have lots of wooded area, as well as wide open spaces for soccer, croquet or star gazing.

The Town of Greenville is a small, Christian college town with little to no night life. It's a one-grocery-store kind of place with very friendly people who all wave when you drive by. Third Street Antiques is the best place around to find hidden treasures. Say hello to the owner Annette when you visit! And Kahuna's has the best burgers!

I live and work in DC but I was born and raised in Illinois and it will always be my home. We are sharing our special sanctuary with guests now, with to hopes of finally retiring there in the years to come. My family lives very nearby and visits the lake house as much as time permits. We hope you enjoy your visit to Wilcott Pines.
