Getting out and about
The Tourist information is down by the Train and Bus station and you will find them very helpful.
Buses runs regularly to all major attractions including The Minack and Lands End.
You can catch a bus or the train to St Ives. A weekly pass is available for all Cornish buses and is very good value.
I would strongly advise NOT taking your car into St Ives. There is absolutely NO parking and the roads in and around the town are very congested. Do use the park and ride at St.Erth Railway station or catch the bus.

Things to do
The MInack Theatre. Amazing theatre carved into the rocks at Porthcurnow. A must see.
St Michael’s Mount. The famous fairy tale castle on the mount is only 2 miles away. Take the boat or walk the causeway (tide depending) from Marazion.
The Tate Gallery, St Ives.
The Barbara Hepworth Museum, St Ives
The Leech Pottery, St Ives.
The Porthcurnow Telegraph Museum.
Day trip to The Isles of Scilly. The islands are beautiful but be aware of the length of the journey.
The Jubilee Pool….we await it’s grand reopening. Do go and look at work in progress though.
Penzance Leisure centre. Indoor pool and gym facilities with small cafe.15 minute walk from here.
Morrab Library. Wonderful Private gallery but visitors are welcome to use it for the day for a donation of approx £4. Alternatively there are normally free tours of the library on Friday afternoons but best to phone them first to check.

We have two great cinemas nearby.
The Filmhouse at Newlyn shows a wide variety of mainstream and Arthouse movies. Great cafe/bar too.
The Savoy Penzance. Our local cinema is on the causeway and shows most new releases.

Where to start!
Everyone has their favourite. Half the fun is exploring.
We love Sennen and Porthcurnow, although they both can get very busy in summer. Porth Kidney is beautiful but check the tides before you go. St Ives cannot be beaten for it’s golden sands but watch out for the crowds and the seagulls!

Morrab Gardens FREE and across the road!
Penlee Gardens FREE Also on our road and very lovely too.
St Michael’s Mount. National trust with beautiful gardens
Trengwainton Garden, National trust (cafe not NT)

The Acorn. Our local and very popular theatre including a performing Arts centre. Just a 5 minute walk.
Penlee Open Air theatre. On our road and with a full summer season now running.
The Minack. The iconic theatre in the cliffs. Booking always advisable. Cushions available on request. Those stone seats are very hard!

Art Galleries
As well as the public galleries (The Newlyn, Tate and The Exchange) do take some time to have a look around some of the many commercial galleries in the area. Worth a visit is The Cornwall Contemporary (Chapel street), Redwing Gallery (Off bread Street), Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (Just outside of Penzance).
An Art pass allows you unlimited weekly access to the best galleries in the area. Ask at either The Newlyn gallery, The Exchange, Penlee or The Tate.

So many places to walk and all that coast path!
The list is too endless for me to begin but a good place to start is a walk to Mousehole and then on to Lamorna or walk the other way to St Michael’s Mount. Both walks take approx an hour with refreshments the other side!

We have many great independent shops in Penzance and they would be delighted to have your support. Here are just a few.
Edge of the World (Market Jew Street), great independent bookshop that Penzance is rightly very proud of.
Barton Books (The Causeway), specialist Arts bookshop that also sells wonderful cards.
Pure Nuff Stuff (Chapel Street), Eco friendly handmade skincare products.
No 56 (Chapel Street), is this the most tasteful shop in Penzance? Beautiful things for the home and linen clothes.
Steckfensters (Chapel Street), possibly the most quirky shop in Penzance. Lots of vintage everything.
Fishboy PZ (Chapel Street), clothes, bags and their own t.shirts. Iconic Cornish brand born and breed in PZ.
