Charmingly restored 1880's farmhouse, perfectly central to a great P.E.C. experience, on a stream in the heart of beautiful Cherry Valley. Only 5-10mins from Sandbanks, Picton, Bloomfield, Vicki's Veggies, Black River Cheese and so much more!

The space

3 bedrooms, a full bath downstairs, a half bath upstairs; on the main floor is a large kitchen, living room, piano, library, and dining table.
There's a big yard with rolling hills, a stream lazily flowing nearby, a few hammocks, and access to food from our seasonal gardens (herbs, greens, tomatoes, raspberries!). You're welcome to tour our developing barn/studio, and say hello to our cuddly cats Orson and Hibou too - they stay in the barn.
There's no TV, but everything else: WIFI, lots of books, board games, full kitchen. The house is older (1880's), and thus it has character, in a good way (we think). A cleaner comes through before each guest to ensure the space is in great shape.
We bought the property in 2012 and have been fixin'er'up - slowly but surely. You'll see some fruits of our labours to date, notably some reclaimed hardwood floors and ceilings. Over 50% of each year's Air BnB rental income goes toward renovations, and guests often return to see the updates.

Guest access

You have access to the entire yard, BBQ, fire pit, and the entire house. If you'd like to hang out in the barn (some people have done so to paint or play music), just ask.

Interaction with guests

Myself and/or my partner Tess will likely be on site while you're visiting, as we have a small private suite off the back of the house (separate entrances for you and us). We're a young filmmaking couple who appreciate guests seeking a quiet, inspiring natural getaway, not a huge group party (though we will take requests!). Families are welcome. Sometimes we're busy or travelling with work, but we're always happy to direct you to great spots to eat, drink, and have fun in the county.

Other things to note

SANDBANKS
You can use our Ontario Provincial Park pass, which is good for one car's parking at any provincial park ($18 value). The closest are: Sandbanks (5mins), North Beach (30mins, just past Welllington), and Presqu'ile Provincial Park (45mins).

BEACH
Re: Outlet Beach (part of Sandbanks Provincial Park), on a few tourist sites you'll see true reviews like this:
The Outlet Beach is a long sandy beach in a large bay where the water gets deep only very gradually. This makes it the most popular swimming and family play beach. The shallow water warms quickly and is sandy underfoot. If the towering trees that grow adjacent to the beach were palm trees, you could easily believe you were in the Caribbean.
Richardson's is a bit more secluded and just as cool, and Dunes is fairly mind-blowing. It's that cool!

BOARD GAMES and BOOKS and a PIANO
We have lots of board games and books to take up your time inside, if the weather is bad. We also have a piano! And we have one rule: if you know how to play piano, you can play the piano. We LOVE music, but kids banging on the keys at 7am is not the music we love. Just sayin'.

This is a stunning property, well located for exploring Prince Edward County: beaches, wineries, breweries, art galleries, parks etc. Ryan and Tess couldn't have been more welcoming, giving us good suggestions of places to visit with our two young children, and giving us useful restaurant and bar tips. The property really is a labour of love, and has been renovated and redecorated beautifully. At night, we could hear the bull frogs croaking in the pond outside. It is a 5 min drive from Sandbanks and not much further to Picton, Bloomfield etc. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Tess and Ryan were very friendly, accommodating and informative. Thankfully our inquisitive two year old didn't break anything and our baby didn't make to much noise! We would highly recommend their lovely home and wish them all the best with the film making and Airbnb.

It was an amazing but too short of a stay! I could write a whole paragraph just on the shower alone; it was my favourite part of the house. The place was super cute and a nice mix of the old and modern, with new appliances. Tess and Ryan were really easy to communicate with and Ryan would always respond to any messages within a few mins. They also very kindly let us check out later, which was very much appreciated! Wifi was a bit spotty upstairs, but I think that's how it is for a lot of PEC. In any case, we were out a lot. Location is very convenient as it is just down the road from Sandbanks and close to Wellington (which we preferred over Picton). The kitchen is a cook's dream - we whipped up a huge feast while there! There is tons of space including a huge backyard, and while the hosts are living in a small house just to the side, you never hear them. All in all a great stay, thanks to the hosts for your wonderful hospitality :D

My partner and I chose Tess and Ryan's farmhouse for the setting of a very intimate wedding ceremony and weekend celebration. They kindly offered us the use of their own section of the house as part of the rental, to accommodate a group of 4 couples, which was incredibly helpful in giving us the space we needed. We had a small hiccup one morning, and Tess and Ryan handled the situation extremely quickly, effectively and professionally, so that it didn't interrupt any of our plans. The home is being beautifully restored to keep with the original character and style of the area, while also ensuring it has everything you need to be comfortable. Gorgeous natural surroundings and lots of privacy. Highly recommend this home!

This is a beautiful restored house. Ryan and Tess have a wonderfully artistic eye for design which is reflected in so many details in the house, including the creative art pieces on the walls, the antique furniture, and the beautiful downstairs bathroom with glass shower. The back porch with two grills and firepit on the lawn is ideal for summer meals with small groups and long evenings outside. The location on the main road in Cherry Valley is convenient for getting to the beaches at Sandbanks with a c. 10 minute drive, and they provided an annual pass for Sandbanks which was hugely useful, as well as many useful guides and other materials. The price was great value for two families sharing the house during the week. Ryan and Tess were extremely responsive to any small matters that arose during the week, and in setting up the visit. A great place for a week in the County.
