Great location

Well equipped and comfortable one bedroom pool side gite, situated in the grounds of a large farm house, in a quiet rural area of the Golden Triangle in the Tarn region in South West France.

The space
Located within the Golden Triangle and set in the grounds of a 19th century country farm house, La Mailhourie pool house has been imaginatively transformed from the original outbuildings into a small pool side gite.

La Mailhourie Pool House is situated in the tiny hamlet of La Mailhourie, the perfect location for a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. It is opposite a winery, giving you a small glimpse of rural working France.

The house is very comfortably furnished, with one double bedroom and en-suite shower room with double sink area & separate wc. The living space is open plan, which includes a kitchen, dining and seating area which includes a large corner sofa, coffee table, side tables, and a dining table with 2 chairs. There is also a wood burning stove. The kitchen has been recently renovated and includes an induction hob, oven, and fridge freezer. Perfect for two adults. I provide 1 x set double bed linen, 4 x bathroom towels and 2 x pool towels for guests.

Outside there is a large pergola, parasols, sun loungers and a lovely glass table with four chairs for outdoor drinks/dining and a gas bbq.

There are plenty of things to do in the local area such as visiting the local caves (wineries) and sampling the Gaillac wines, or you can enjoy forest walking, horse riding, boat hire, golf, fishing, water activities such as kayaking or there are plenty of local towns to visit such as Albi or Cordes sur ciel. The list is endless and a lot of fun.

There are some great historical towns around the area such as the medieval town of Albi with its beautiful brick cathedral and is also where you will find the Toulouse Lautrec museum. In the local town of Castlenau are the ruins of a castle where you can watch the sun go down, enhance the moment and take a bottle of wine to drink (as we love to do). Slightly further afield is Saint Antonin Noble Val where you can take a kayak down the Averyon river, an amazing experience.

Where you’ll be

Castelnau-de-Lévis, Languedoc-Roussillon Midi-Pyrénées, France

La Mailhourie is a small hamlet comprising three houses. It is a quiet, rural area with a hint of rural working France. Opposite the house is a small winery where you can taste and purchase their wine (sporadic opening hours) There are some really lovely walks in the area and some fun exploring to be had. There are also places you can buy local produce, stumbling upon them is half the fun. There are so many vin yards including the local co-operative that has regular tours and tastings (this is in walking distance). Not far from the house you can play golf and hire a small boat to take yourself down the Tarn. There are also several restaurants, shops etc reasonably close by, although a car is needed.

I inherited the house in France from my late father, Dorian Ker, who was an amazing artist. I split my time between the UK and France. In England I have my own production business and in my spare time I make jewellery and work as a volunteer mentor for young people. I have 3 kids. I own the house with my two sisters, Samantha and Madeleine. I like to travel and have been to many countries, but still have a lot of places I would like to visit. I hope that people who visit the house will appreciate not only the accommodation, and the local area, but also our laid back style. The pool house was built for fun and we hope everyone that visits will love it as much as we do.
