We like to welcome you to our great family house in Haarlem, also known as little Amsterdam. A bike ride away from Haarlem city, the dunes, forest and sea @ Zandvoort, and a short train ride from Amsterdam. The house is early 1930s with original stained glass windows. Double doors open to the sunny backyard where you can relax under the grape vine and enjoy the fire pit at night. It's a child friendly area with multiple playgrounds , supermarkets and a shopping street in walking distance.

The space
The living is an open and very light space looking into the backyard. It has a large dining table at the garden side and an open connection to the kitchen in the front of the house. The couch in the living can be turned into a(n extra) double bed.
You can always shut the stained glass doors for a quiet conversation at the kitchen bench or to cook in peace. The kitchen is fully equipped with an combi-oven, induction stove, coffee machine, fridge and freezer, dish washer.
In the garden you can enjoy your meals at the picknick table and relax at the lounge set. Make a BBQ or light the fire pit for a cosy night.

There is a toilet in the hallway before going up the stairs to the first floor. On the first floor you will find the master bedroom with sunny balcony at the garden side, the children's room at the front (bunk bed for adult size, up to 16yrs old) together with the walk-in closet. There is also a bathroom with bath, shower, second toilet and wash basin.

On the second floor there is a spacious and light room with double bed and workdesk with printer. Pick any (art)book you like from the bookshelves to read during your stay.

Also on the second floor you find the washing machine, dryer, drying lines,
iron and iron board.

We try to be as sustainable as possible that is why we have
- solar panels on the roof that makes the house climate neutral for electricity
- separate trash bins for paper, glass, plastic and tins and rest.
- a pay per use subscription on our washing machine. You won't notice from the outside but just consider this when you use the machine. Try to avoid half full washes.

Guest access
The entire space and garden are yours!

Other things to note
- you can make use of our 3 bikes, 2 with each a children back-seat, one bike also has the possibility of a small childrens front-seat.
- wifi, netflix and music on spotify playing on Sonos available

Location

Haarlem, Noord-Holland, Netherlands

The Transvaal neigbourhood is a nice, and green place. A big playground is around the corner and we marked more playgrounds on walking distance at the map at the house.
There is a small shopping centre at a 5 min walk and the long Cronjéstraat with shops, restaurants and a good massage place 'Oilistic' are 10 min walk away. 'Spanish Haarlem' is great in tapas and wines and you can get home made cake and coffee on the sunny terrace at 'Tante Sientje'.

Close to the shopping centre the is a indoor climbing hall and a brand new boulder hall called 'de boulderfabriek'.
On a 10 minute bike ride you are at 'Veerplas', a small lake with beach, good food, music and a nature playground for kids where you can build huts, find insects, and run around free.
A 10 min bike ride the other way you can enjoy 'de kweektuin'. They have good coffee and food, a petty zoo, a park and a smaller nature playground. They also offer yoga classes and have an organic market ones a month.

With great weather you will enjoy 't Wed' as well. It's a sweetwater lake in the dunes with lots of great walking and biking opportunities. There also is a children's playground next to the visitors centre of the 'Kennemerduinen' (name of the dunes nature reserve)

It's about 30 min bike to the beach of Bloemendaal aan Zee, and 10 more minutes to Zandvoort (F1 racing track)
There is also a direct bus and train going to Zandvoort and Bloemendaal from Haarlem train station.
Amsterdam Central Station is 20 mins by train direct line from Haarlem train Station.

Hi we are Els (fashiondesigner), Tim (lawyer), Bente (daughter 7 years old) and Norah (daughter 4 years old). We work Amsterdam and live in Haarlem, and like to travel a lot. Before Bente was born we did a lot of backpacking/biking/public transport adventures mostly throughout Europe/Middle East/ North Africa and we still love it and try to keep the same openness to our travels, but it also has to work for Bente and Norah now :) That's why airbnb is a great way of travelling for us. We can explore around as much as we like but also have a good place to stay and hang around after our kids' bedtime. We enjoy our holidays by strolling around cities, sniffing up culture, tasting good food, swimming/surfing/playing on the beach and biking/hiking through nature. We have now opened up our own home in Haarlem to families and friends with likeminded interests!
