Casa Misterio is a two-room guesthouse located in an authentic Centro Histórico barrio still untouched by the rising tourism in Merida, but with all the famous sights a short walk away. Our home is a self-rebuilt colonial, retaining its traditional bones while reflecting the California we left behind, providing a tranquil respite from the bustling city outside. We love sharing our home with our guests. We offer cooking classes and culinary tours right from our home too. Ask us for details!
We designed, built and furnished our house all on our own, without the help of an architect. The result is a space that is unique and full of life. We are very proud of it. We named our house Casa Misterio because when you open the front doors, what was invisible from the street unfolds as you walk through the house, surprising you at every turn.
We have another beautiful room in our home available to rent. If the balcony room is occupied, check out our listing for the air-conditioned casita by scrolling to the bottom of our host profile or following the link: https://airbnb.com/rooms/1539953

We want out guests to feel completely at home during their stay, as if visiting friends. Come and go as you please and make yourself comfortable in your room and in the common areas.
Interaction with guests
We are a Merida native and a California girl, both trained chefs, who live full time in Merida with our two cute kids. We love hosting guests and showing off this city that we love so much. Erin serves a healthy and filling breakfast each morning, along with great coffee and fresh juice. We both really enjoy getting to know guests over a meal, hearing about their travels, and helping them plan their time in Merida. Manny is a wealth of insider info and tips on where to go and what to avoid. Erin brings her perspective as a very happy foreigner discovering what this amazing place has to offer. Sharing our home and what we like best about our city is what being a part of Airbnb means to us.
We may have left the professional chef life behind when we moved to Merida, but our love for authentic food culture (and good eating) is a huge part of our life here. We offer a unique urban food tour, as well as cooking classes, right from (or in) our home. Get more specifics about our offerings in "Other Things to Note."
