During your stay

Before becoming a painter and creative decorator in a peaceful périgord town, Marc Bertin (aka Marcotte) was a cook for more than a decade. An area of activity where artistic sense is as predominant as in painting. Head of brigade at 18, from his BEP in his pocket, the native of the Loire-Atlantique follows the experiences (Vendée, Var, etc.), makes beautiful encounters and puts heart to work to satisfy the pleasures of gourmets. It is almost naturalthat lying in self-taught painting to recreate in another way all his past encounters that inspired him. "I had always loved painting but I didn't know anything about it. One day, a close friend passed away and I needed to vent all my ill-being. I've been paint for 17 years." Moreover, his work, designed from acrylic, paintings of construction sites (from his other professional activity) is like his cuisine: rich in emotion. He adds fibers (wool, silk, cotton) and creates accumulations that he incorporates into his creations: "Since I was a cook I never work with a brush but I do everything by hand." Abstraction quickly proved to be a new land of experimentation. The cult of art history has little interest in Marcotte, who prefers him that of freedom. "I don't go to museums." No contempt for his words. By limiting the weight of cultural consciousness, which he considers "inhibiting", the artist wants to preserve the ingenuity of the act of painting and surrender to his urgency...
