A designer owned mews flat with an extraordinary glass vinery kitchen/dining room. Wake up in our quirky mews and feel like you're in a film set. The mews is a special place close to the beach and the city, with cheap parking in the street. There is a cosy sitting room with Roku TV and two large bedrooms (one ensuite). Pets are welcome. Quality mattress, linens, vintage textiles, a roll top bath and a great shower. Our aim is a comfortable but unique experience to remember.

The space
Cambridge Grove is tucked away but is walking distance from Hove train and close to the main routes in and out of Brighton. It has an interesting body of shops, bars and restaurants close by (see my extensive guide book). The building is a 1860 converted mews/stable and as an interior architect I have filled it with quirky collected treasures, colourful textiles and old paintings. If you love stylish interiors, with lots of colour, texture, interesting art, great showers, comfortable beds, organic body wash, quality linen all in a quirky street setting then this is the place for you.

Cambridge Grove is tucked away but is walking distance from Hove train and close to the main routes in and out of Brighton. It has an interesting body of shops, bars and restaurants close by (see my extensive guide book) and of course the sea. The building is a 1866 converted mews/stable and as an interior architect I have filled it with quirky collected treasures, colourful textiles and old paintings. It's not your standard white box Air bnb. The kitchen/dining room started life as our indoor garden and the bedrooms are in the roof of the mews. So, don't expect built in microwaves, coffee machines and granite worktops. Although its well stocked with everything you need to cook Its fairly basic to some with its old stoneware laboratory sink and kitchen cupboards made from school lockers and of course lots and lots of plants and books. We had planned to put in full air con this spring (there is a portable air conditioner) but due to covid had to postpone until next spring. Its fully glazed and in the middle of the day it can get hot so it might be best to be out and about at lunchtime or relaxing upstairs or in the living room. Having said that its absolutely magical at breakfast and/or for a romantic/family dinner or drinks before going out. The vinery is an old peach house used by the victorians in 1866 for growing fruit and its very eclectic (the old greenhouse floor is still there, full height glass ceiling, original floorboards, lime rendered walls, lots of plants and colour). It might not be like home but its an amazing experience seeing the stars at night and the sky in the day with seagulls flying over and is also fabulous when its raining. Hopefully staying here is something you will never forget!

Guest access
The flat has a shared stairs and hallway with our other air bnb studio but you have your own front door and access to the whole apartment which has a separate living room/tv room, a glazed kitchen/dining room, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms: one ensuite with roll top bath and the other a shower room.

Other things to note
Its a fabulous street and its a working mews so its bustling during the day and pretty quiet at night. Its a very safe area and we have good neighbours so everyone keeps an eye out. Please note. The stairs up to the flat are steeper then normal so if you struggle with normal stairs you will find these a little hard. However, there is a hand rail all the way up. There is a spare single bed under the double bed should you need it with spare duvet is in the red chest in the second bedroom.

The street is private. (no council wardens) which means you can drop off when you arrive and pick up when you leave without too much hassle. You can settle in a little and then park up.

I have a permit for parking in the street and permits for parking in permit bays close by. Both options are very easy. Both are £3 per day from 12am to 12am. The other options for reasonably priced parking close by is Hove station at £7 per day (its a five minute walk)
There is free parking but its a trek. Please ask for details if you need parking. I am happy to help.

On the whole parking in Hove is easier then Brighton as we benefit from being a little out of the city centre. Car parks in the city are now very expensive so I would advise not using your car for short journeys. There are lots of options to get around. Walking cycling, bus or cab. The number 7 bus goes from Cromwell Road (five minute walk) into the city and a cab/uber into the city will be around £7. If there are a few of you the cab is cheaper then the bus.

You can hire Brighton Boris bikes from the station. You need to download an app to use them. You can also walk into the city in 25 mins. Its a lovely walk along the beach and promenade with lots to see and do. A great way to get your bearings and definitely worth it!

Currently being very careful with our cleaning. We have removed some soft furnishings from the room and wash everything at 60 degrees. We use anti bacterial wipes for all surfaces. There is hand gel and wipes for your use in the air bnb.

Cambridge mews street is a secret treasure. It has a great community of people from all walks of life. Its a fantastic place to visit with a wonderful sense of community.

Our street is just very special. Its also a great spot. Its close to Hove station, Tesco Express, pubs and restaurants in Hove and also the city centre. All of the joy of being close to the centre without any of the hassle. This neighbourhood/street is a total one-off.

Paula is an Interior architect and lover of old buildings and Paul works in communications. We love Cambridge Grove. Its a very special place. We have five grown up children and a dog called Badger. I strive to make our places special - the sort of place where I would want to stay. Something memorable. Do not expect a clean white box. Our building is old when plenty of character. We have a unique space in a wonderful mews street. We are great believers in attention to detail, making cool and quirky spaces using interesting finds and great art combined with the luxury of fantastic showers, amazingly comfortable beds and great textiles and furnishings. Five things I can't live without: - My adorable husband, children and dog - Cambridge Grove and our wonderful coffee shop (Pharmacie) - Yorkshire tea - My indoor kitchen garden in my victorian glass house. - The sea and the walk along the beach into the city
