The home itself sits on a small lane of single-family properties situated in a forested area that includes Highland Lake Cove (Retreat & Learning Community) and Highland Lake Inn & Resort. You will find sheep, goats, chickens, a lone donkey and a white peacock as you explore the extensive grounds. Guests can kayak, canoe and fish on the lake, play tennis on one of two tennis courts, and partake in culinary delights and evening cocktails at the award-winning Seasons Restaurant. The Highland Lake area sits across the road from The Park at Flat Rock which offers 66-acres of walking/running trails, a picnic pavilion and a playground for children. In addition, this property is 4-miles to the center of Hendersonville and 31-miles to downtown Asheville.

My partner and I, as of February 2019, are full-time transplants from San Francisco, CA. Since 2003, we've been traveling the USA searching for the place we'd call our next home. After narrowing it down to the Savannah, GA area and the Asheville, NC area (we spent great amounts of time in both places), it was clearly the Asheville area for everyday living. And more specifically, Hendersonville, NC. - you can actually burn wood in your fireplace without the fire department showing up at your front door! Beyond that, Boon Choo Thai Express on Upward Road creates amazing Thai cuisine, the many estate sales keep us constantly hunting (without a gun), and if you are lucky, you can walk out your front door and see a bear! White squirrels and turkeys are cool greetings, too. Things like these are what makes us happy to be spending life in WNC.
