There is a garden with a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. Guests do not have to eat in the room but can have breakfast and dinner in the 1930s café or in the charming kitchen by the coal stove.

Where you’ll be
Bassenge, Wallonie, Belgium
Eben-Emael is less than 5 km from the center of Maastricht ( within 15 minutes by bike) and yet you imagine yourself in France. This has a lot to do with the culture, nature and friendly inhabitants of this French-speaking village. Within walking distance are several good restaurants and various attractions. Be sure to visit the famous Fortress of Eben Emael, the marl caves or the mysterious Tower of Eben Ezer. Or immerse yourself in the folkloric tradition of this village, The Cramignons, the Valleifeest and the restaurants in the village are recommended to get acquainted with the local colour. In short, experience life in the beautiful valley. Long history, rich tradition

What makes my home unique: historic building, interior from the 1930s
A private hotel in the south of France ... I've dreamed of that all my life. Preferably in a small castle. It became an old charming farmhouse with a turret in the French-speaking Eben Emael.
Eben-Emael is barely 5 km from the center of Maastricht and yet you feel like yourself in France. That has a lot to do with the culture, nature and warm-hearted residents of this French-speaking village.
Vintage: reviving the 30's
The style has been thought for a long time. During my travels, I always went looking for what I don't have at home. Exploring other cultures and atmospheres, that's what it's all about. For example, I love the old theaters in London, books and interiors of Agatha Christie and of "Allo Allo".
One day, I clashed with grandmother in pictures of her parents' wedding in 1937. Great! That furniture, set tables, atmosphere, … And immediately thought: how nice would it be to get back to the 1930s? By the way, we already had an original stairwell in that style, among other things. The B&B is complete and decorated down to the last detail in the art deco of the 1930s.
Why Eben Emael?
With my small business Tourism Kanne, I also organize tours and day trips in Eben Emael. So I knew the charm and sights of this village.
Eben Emael was already an important village in the 1930s with the excavation of the Albert Canal and of course with the construction of the giant under the forts: Fort Eben Emael. During and after construction, 1200 people stayed, including 200 workers. They stayed in wooden barracks just outside the fortress or as a costumer with the residents of Eben Emael. This is how many chambres d'hôtes came into being, and of course the grotards (small Walloon living room cum café) as well. All reasons to return to the atmosphere of that time.
