We had the pleasure of spending our first few days of the new year at Steves lovely home in the Bacocho area of Puerto Escondido ... Steve made us very welcome from the minute we stepped in to his "oasis". The palapa room at the top immediately cried out to us to relax, chill, feel the breeze, lie on the hammock . Our daughter and her boyfriend had the garden room that opened to the swimming pool patio area. We just had to spend a day just enjoying and relaxing in Casa Amarillo. Steve was a great host, and we thank him for his hospitality, the shared meals (thanks to his resident chef) the fresh eggs from his chickens, the mexcal , margaritas and his tips, one of which was to watch the beautiful sunset from the Espaldin restaurant in Via Carizzalillia hotel. We all had, yet another, wonderful Airbnb experience

We had a fabulous 7-day stay in the Palapa. Hammocks, pool, walking distance to the beach and restaurants. We cooked many meals in the large kitchen. Host Steven is incredibly friendly and helpful. He has contacts for just about anything you might want to do. Cooking classes right in the house, Spanish lessons by the pool... Would definitely stay again.

Steven was a wonderful host, he made us feel at home from the very first minute. The house just on the right location, it is a very calm zone with no noise or tourists and the beach there is very pretty. It is also like 10 minutes away from Zicatela if you want to go party. The house is very cozy and the room if perfect if you are travelling as a couple. The garden with the pool was perfect and the kitchen is to die for. Every single recommendation Steven made to us was a good one. We will definitely be coming back soon.

Steven is a wonderful host and the Palapa room is the bomb. The premises are very comfortable, well located, and Steve is diligent at constantly improving the house and the environment. I would definitely stay here again! Thanks Steven and wonderful to meet you!

Casa Amarilla is awesome! The house is in a relatively quiet neighborhood, so you can go to bed early and lay around in the hammock all day if you choose, but it’s also within walking distance to the town market, bars, restaurants, and the beach. Steven has an eclectic mix of friends who sometimes stopped by the house, so I was fortunate enough to meet some really wonderful people, yet I also had complete privacy when I wished as well. Having lived in the area for many years, Steven seems to know well over half the town and, meaning you can expect to receive great advice on where to find the best food, how to get around, etc. Having his perspective was really helpful to me, and probably saved me a lot of time and money too! In total, I stayed at Casa Amarilla for around a month and I can honestly say that I enjoyed every day of it - my only regret is that I had to leave.

Highly recommend staying with Steven in Puerto Escondido. We had an amazing time thanks to his great place and generosity. The Palapa was beautiful and spacious- incredible to wake up to the sun rise every morning. Each morning we joined Steven to the local market where we could purchase fresh produce and taste some of the flavours of (URL HIDDEN) was such a great local experience which we would not have done without Steven showing us around. The house was in a great location, walking distance to some of the beautiful beaches and market. Steven was a fantastic friendly, fun and cool guy, there is no hiding the fact that he is genuinely living the dream, which we hope to do one day ;) We were sad to say goodbye but are sure to be back soon :) Could not recommend a better person to meet and stay with in Puerto.

This house is a beautiful place where you can share, relax, come and go, take a dip in the pool- live and let live in a very open and friendly atmosphere. Stephen is an amazing host, as generous with his time as he is with his excellent mescal (no doubt you'll get more than a sip of it!). He will not hesitate to go out of his way to help you with whatever you need, come with you to the market if you want company, leave you alone if you'd rather be on your own, etc. The rooms are clean and comfortable, as are the private bathrooms, set in a cozy mexican style. During my stay, we had great food every single night, as each guest was a foodie and ready to share with others. A real treat!

I came to Mexico in 2006 after owning and operating Sellwood Cycle Repair for 20 years in Portland, Oregon. Once here, I came across a mezcal producing village in the mountains of Oaxaca where families had been making the traditional beverage from a wild agave for generations. I soon found myself not only friends but in business with the producers and I now sell "Mezcal de Puta Madre" throughout México
