We had a great stay at Chitra's lovely home. She was a fantastic host and made us feel welcome the moment we walked in the door. Chitra's food was some of the best we've had in Sri Lanka and the bedroom was enormous and very comfortable. Could not recommend this place highly enough! We hope to return v soon.

Fantastic airbnb. A beautiful, authentic Sri Lankan house. Chitra is a wonderful host; friendly, helpful, and a great cook. She went to a great deal of effort to make our stay memorable and to make us feel comfortable, including showing us around her lovely and fascinating garden and arranging our onward travel to Nurwara Eliya. It was a pleasure to stay here and to meet Chitra. Would highly recommend.

This is the perfect place to stay to relax and escape the bustle and car fumes of Kandy! The house is a lovely old family home with a beautiful garden, and Chitra's cooking is absolutely delicious! I used a tuktuk organised by the host, all went smoothly!

Chitra's place is the highlight of Kandy. We took her recommended tuk tuk who picked us up from the station. Her place is nestled off the beaten track and is surrounded by the most beautiful garden. Her house and our room was huge. So clean and comfy beds. Chitra is more than happy to give you any information you need about Kandy and the area and will help you with anything you need. We spent a whole day relaxing in the garden and she took us on a tour of all the spices and fruit she grows there. We then had dinner with her which used all the home grown ingredients. My boyfriend asked if he could watch her cook and she was more than happy to let him. We had such a lovely stay at Chitra's house. We would definitely visit again. One last thing to add, you would need a tuk tuk to get you in to Kandy as it's not walking distance. I would 100% recommend to eat at hers but if you choose alternatively you'll need to be prepared with your own food or take a tuk tuk in.

We loved staying at Chitra's place. The room was large with a lovely garden view, and big comfy beds. Shared bathroom was basic but fine. Dogs were so cute! Breakfast and dinners were all amazing - best food and most variety we've had in Sri Lanka by far! Chitra saw it as a personal challenge to give us new exciting combinations each day and make us guess what they were, so we learned a lot about her cooking too! We particularly liked the breakfast egg hoppers, jackfruit curry and cucumber mustard dishes. Vigita, the tuk tuk driver Chitra recommends is great and he took us out to The Knuckles mountains for some proper off grid hiking - it was beautiful, a real adventure and we didn't see another soul! He also took us to Sigirya for 6k (not including entrance fee ) which was incredible. Well worth the money and a great experience of Sri Lankan living. Thank you Chitra!

Chitra's place was the perfect place to relax and unwind. We loved the area and the friendly villages. Chitra has a lovely home and a beautiful garden with plenty of places to sit, relax or read. We stayed in a lovely spacious room in Chitra's home and the whole place had a welcoming family feel. Chitra cooked us some delicious food. Both the breakfasts and dinners were some of the best food we've had in Sri Lanka, very authentic Sri Lankan dishes with lovely flavours and spices. Kandy is only a short tuk tuk ride, but in the five days we stayed we hardly left the tranquility of the garden. Just wandering around the local villages and down to the river was enough for us. We also had a lovely walk through the nearby forest reserve which is worth a visit. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay just a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy, Chitra 's place is perfect,it really is a 'peace haven'.
