Description

The space

Our quiet cottage is located in the heart of Ocean Park and is just a short walk to the beaches, shops and restaurants. Built in the 1920’s it has plenty of charm but has been completely remodeled with all the conveniences for a cozy stay.

The ‘High Tides” Was renovated in 2014 with all the amenities for simple beach living. It has a modern kitchen with all the basics for foodies and decks for outdoor dining and sunbathing. The big yard is filled with flowers and has lots of room for games or yoga. The bedroom has a new sleep number queen sized bed so you can choose the level of firmness or squishiness you want. We have a TV for movies as well as board games and puzzles. WiFi is available a few blocks away at a local cafe.

Your hosts, Ted and Kathy live down the road and are available on request. They have plenty of advise on where to go and what to do. If you ask Ted will talk your ear off on the history of the peninsula, local wildlife or local color.

We’re just a 6 blocks to the public beach access and some of the best clamming in the US. Being 2 blocks off the main drag of Ocean park you can easily walk to the cafes, bookstores, coffee shops and restaurants and don’t miss Jacks - the oldest continually operated general store in Washington state. We’re a short drive or bike to historic Oysterville and the town of Long beach is down the road with more restaurants shopping and activities. Hiking, biking and kayaking abound on the peninsula and nothing is more that a few miles away.

The History
The “High Tides” was built in the 1930’s and was originally a small all you can eat restaurant that served fresh seafood to passengers departing the Clamshell railroad. It’s been a beach cottage for the last 70 or so years.

Beautiful little house in a remote quiet town. Perfect little get away that really gets away from hustle and bustle of city life. The area is pretty. We had great hikes during the day and cooked dinners in. The house is just as it appeared and the fresh flowers and plants were a nice touch. We will be back and better prepared next time. Armed with food and books. Kathy is blessed with quite the green thumb. Enjoy the quiet.

This was our second time staying with the Lailers and it was even better than the first time (which was hard to beat)! They have added some lovely touches to the cottage - gas fireplace, separate sitting/meditation space, and some beautiful landscaping which includes a great fire pit. All in all we love this place and can't wait to come back. It's the perfect blend of cozy, clean, spacious and quiet. It's steps away from the country store for anything you may have forgotten and a quick walk to the beach. We can't wait to come back.

The house was a perfect little get away, not far from Astoria, OR. There was plenty to do within an hours drive, but also great for staying indoors all day. Can't wait to stay again!

This adorable cabin had everything we needed and even went above and beyond with extra toiletries and a very well equipped kitchen to prepare all the fresh seafood we bought nearby. It was very clean and the perfect cozy spot for a rainy weekend on the coast. Can't wait for our next visit!

The cabin is exactly as described...clean and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the bouquet of flowers in the bedroom, the blackout curtains that allow for a longer sleep, and coffee. The beach is just a couple minutes walk away, and Jack's (Washington's oldest grocery store) is just around the corner. Couldn't ask for a nicer host than Kathy.

Everything about this home is adorable. I would love to live in a home like this one day. We went for walks and jogs to the beach, ate fresh oysters and enjoyed a relaxing time with dramatic weather and dappled bouts of sun (and hail; it was March). A lovely, relaxing time.

Our family has vacationed in Ocean Park for more than 40 years and are squarely part of the land of the Pacific Northwest. We love good people good dogs, great food and stories shared with friends and family, also the occasional cat.
