Cozy Country Home in Vermont's Green Mountains

Entire house hosted by Jane
6 guests2 bedrooms3 beds2 bathrooms
Entire home
You’ll have the house to yourself.
Our home is full of sunlight with mountain views. You can dine or relax on the large screened porch with white wicker furniture and flowered pillows or sit in the Adirondack chairs on the stone patio facing the mountains. We have 3,200 square feet, with two bedrooms with full- and queen-sized beds, a pull-out couch in the den, and a large playroom that can double as an extra bedroom. The house is encircled by green lawns, within a woodsy setting that is lush and green in the warmer seasons.

The space
You would have access to our two bicycles (Stowe and Morrisville both have bike paths). We could leave our cat at home, if you wish (he's a sweetheart and easy to take care of), or we could put him in a kennel for your stay. We would ask you to water our houseplants once per week, and if you are a smoker, we ask that you only smoke outside, to keep our home smoke-free. We'll leave you a list of our favorite restaurants, shops, swimming places and hiking or skiing trails.

Location

Morristown, Vermont, United States

The home is on 3-acre setting, and since each home in the neighborhood sits on sites of 10-acres or more, you have a feeling of privacy but also a neighborhood of very friendly folks. We are a 10-minute drive from downtown Stowe, a year-round destination for outdoor activities (hiking, biking, skiing etc.), fine dining and shopping in a quaint New England village that's also a ski town. If you want to do more than explore mountains and historic villages, we are also a 1-hour drive to Burlington (named one of the “most livable cities” in the US) and scenic Lake Champlain, a 2.5 hour drive to Montréal, and a 3-hour drive to Boston.

We are an older couple, with a daughter in college and two older kids living on their own. I am the executive director of a statewide nonprofit, and Ted is retired, spending his time making art, writing, and cooking. Though all three of us enjoy getting out into the Vermont mountains, we also like to discover new places!
