This charming four-bedroom Georgian cottage is set at right angles to the sea front within the highly attractive conservation area. The property is a Grade II listed residence that has very recently been fully refurbished. It was formerly owned by the Queen Mothers interior designer, Lady Barbara Davy, and retains much of her original style, now upgraded to modern day standards. There is a large private secluded garden and your own stocked cocktail bar to enjoy.
The space
The property is one of the largest in the Conservation area so has more than ample room for eight guests. This is a new listing as the property has been just been completely renovated and modernised.
The Living Room with its original Georgian wood panelled walls has a traditional and cosy feel with a brand new Samsung UHD TV and Sonos sound system. Netflix and Amazon Prime are provided. The is also an expensive library of Penguin original paperbacks as well a lots of board games for you to enjoy.
The Kitchen is modern and stylish with built-in oven, separate gas hob and new modern Smeg refrigerator. It also has a full range of new appliances including a large Russell Hobbs microwave, retro De’Longhi toaster and kettle and Nespresso Vertuo Plus Coffee Machine (with a selection of coffee pods provided). There is also a convenient breakfast bar that doubles as an ideal working space - off the kitchen there is a toilet, shower and wet room.
The Dining Room is south facing and has French doors that open onto the garden and so it is a lovely sunny room ideal for both entertaining. The style is more contemporary with sumptuous gold and teal patterned wallpaper by Schumacherand. The large oak dining table will seat eight comfortably in decadent blue velvet chairs.
It also has its own private cocktail bar called Smugglers complete with neon sign! The bespoke oak top hand-crafted bar has room for nine bottles of wine and features an integrated Sonos speaker that can be voice controlled by Amazon's Alexa or from the Sono app. There are dimmable touch activated bar lamps and three plush electric blue velvet bar stools. The bar is stocked with all base spirits, cocktail glasses and mixer and copper mugs, as well as a recipe book to help you make the perfect cocktail so please help yourself.
Each bedroom has its own distinct style. All bedrooms have French country cottage style beds and award-winning Eve hybrid mattresses to provide pure comfort and top-to-toe support. Luxurious light weight goose down duvets are provided (that are changed to match the season) as well as both goose down and duck down pillows so you can find that perfect combination of firmness. Finally, hotel quality crisp white linen is used, and fluffy white towels are provided.
Haeckels hand and body cleansers are provided in all bathrooms. Haeckels is a family company that hand crafts products in their cliff top lab in Margate, Kent using locally hand harvested seaweed and botanicals that offer the very best in anti-oxidant properties.
The rear enclosed walled garden is south facing and hence sunny most of the day and was originally landscaped by the late John Andrew Brookes. The mature garden has attractive painted trellising and mirrored features giving the illusion of space and light. There is new stylish metal garden furniture that seats six comfortably as well as other seating and a fire pit. There is also a gas BBQ for you to enjoy – so everything you need for perfect al fresco dining and entertaining.
