About this listing

Enjoy our renovated Victorian, on historic Prospect Hill. Cook in a modern kitchen while kids play in the playroom. Walk to trendy Union Square, climb the monument for incredible views, hit the playgrounds or easily explore all of greater Boston! Harvard, MIT and Tufts are all less than 15 minutes away.

The space

Our home is airy and clean, equipped with central air conditioning for a comfortable summer stay! We just put in a brand new kitchen, half bath and playroom. You can easily fit 6 or more in our three large bedrooms. Master has a King, a Queen and a Full bed are in the other rooms. Also available are a premium Queen-sized air mattress and a portable crib.

We do have dogs, and though they will be gone, it might not be suitable for a highly allergic person.

The Prospect Hill neighborhood is an amazing, quiet couple of blocks situated just above Union Square. It's crowning feature is the grassy park and monument at the end of our street, which marks the first raising of the American flag! Climb the stairs and you can see all of Cambridge, and across the river, straight to Fenway! Picnic on the green, or visit the two neighborhood playgrounds.

Walk down the hill to hip Union Square and eat and drink at the many wonderful restaurants. Don't forget to check out the Farmers' Market on Saturdays, or the incredible Brazilian and Korean supermarkets. Also, you won't want to miss Capone's Italian Specialty store and Union Square Donut's ridiculous artisanal donuts.

Guest access

We have a driveway with space for one car. Street parking is ample, but requires the use of a visitors pass (provided).

From Union Square, you can catch a bus to just about anywhere. Easily access Harvard Square, Porter Square and Central Square.

Davis Square can be reached by a bus at the top of Prospect Hill.

Also, you may want to investigate HubWay, the local bike sharing operation. Ports are located all over the city, cheap and easy to use.

Interaction with guests

We want you to feel at home, and interaction with us will be limited. We will be out of town but available in case of emergency during your stay.

Other things to note

Need a place to make your holiday dinner? Our new double oven and 5-burner stove will make your Holiday meals a breeze. Enjoy it with your friends around our large dining table, which seats ten!

Very nice home, furnished with taste. Well located. Easy parking. Greer was easy to communicate to. She found a pack'n play crib for us. Recommanded!

This house is beautiful - bright, nicely painted, high ceilings, interesting woodwork and art, and a modern kitchen. The neighborhood is quiet, with a lot of beautiful homes, and conveniently located.

Greer's place is terrific. Super comfortable beds, great linens, well-equipped kitchen, and the big screen TV was awesome for the basketball playoffs and conveniently located for multiple trips back and forth to Tufts, Boston, Cambridge and environs. We discovered a fantastic bakery on Somerville Ave nearby and loved walking to the local cafe for breakfast. Greer has an eye for decor and the house has a great family vibe. Would highly recommend for anyone traveling to Boston!

Adorable, very comfortable, and spacious. We stayed there during the marathon weekend and couldn't have asked for a better spot.

We had a great time staying in Somerville at Greer's beautiful home. It is among our favourite places we have visited through airbnb. The house is spacious and extremely comfortable. My wife and I went with our two small boys who absolutely loved the house. It is perfect for young children - there is even a whole playroom in the basement! The only problem was convincing the kids to leave! The neighbourhood is pretty and relaxed with some excellent shops and restaurants nearby. We very happily spent time there before heading into central Boston - which is itself easily reachable by bus and train. Greer was away when we visited but was friendly and extremely helpful and quick to respond over text and email. Overall a fantastic place that I would recommend to anyone.

Greer was a wonderful host! We were in town with our daughter-in-law, her parents, and our son, all to support him in his first Boston Marathon. Greer's home was lovely and as described; the neighborhood was friendly, quiet, even had easy on-street parking, and only 15 minutes from downtown Boston! She was so very generous, allowing him to check in early having taken a red-eye flight from SFO, which really made a huge difference. She totally opened her home to us, including the kitchen and everything in it. Perfect embodiment of the Airbnb spirit-- we felt like we were residents of Somerville for our long-weekend mini-vacation, not tourists. She also left us useful information, including some great recommendations for local restaurants & treats.

Greer, Sam and the kids were very welcoming hosts. As we were in town the day before we were able to go over and get the lay of the land the nite before. They took the time to show us where everything was.
