Octavios place was perfect for a few days relaxing in the sun. The house does exactly what is says on the tin - perfectly clean and functional little house for 2. The house: The bed is comfy, the air con works well, and it's a good size. Everything you could need. Garden: The outside space is great, with 2 sun loungers near the pool area, a cute table near the house which is sunny for breakfast and a BBQ and outside dining space. There are chickens living in a pen in the garden, and you get to help yourself to eggs each morning, which were delicious! Just worth noting that the gardener was around doing work on the land and in the garden, and tending to the chickens, so if you are looking for complete privacy this might not be for you. Location: The house is set in the mountains of Gran Canaria, in quite a remote area. We found it quite tricky to find, so would recommend arranging to meet with whoever is checking you in at the Disa petrol station on the main GC65 road just through Santa Lucia to avoid getting lost, paticularly given some of the local roads. I echo some of the other reviews - the roads are a bit daunting, so would definitely recommend a small car and driving to and from whilst it's still light! Having said this, if you're looking for somewhere quite rural, for lots of peace and quiet, this place is perfect. Thanks for a great stay!

Octavio's place is at the end of the track down to the village of La Montaña, just outside Santa Lucia. Situated in a valley with mountains and hills rising around is quite an impressive setting. We would highly recommend visiting the supermarket to stock up on supplies before arriving as the drive in and out take a while to get used to and the bigger supermarkets are about 45-55 minutes drive away. If you like walking/running you need to be comfortable linking trail sections by traversing mountain roads with no sidewalk. From what I experienced around the island this is not unusual. The front of the building catches the sun during the morning and early afternoon which is great for reading, relaxing and doing yoga.

We stayed at Octavio's house for 4 nights as a base to explore inland Gran Canaria. The house is really secluded, clean, warm (modern air conditioner) and comfortable. If you want to get away from tourists and typical Spanish resorts then you'll love this place. It's obviously right in the mountains and the little road is interesting, but we got used to driving it pretty quickly. Just take your time. La Montana is close to Santa Lucia, a pretty little village. We used the local shop a couple of times, who were really friendly even with our dodgy Spanish language skills. I'd recommend doing a good shop at a large super market (we used the Carrefour supermarket before arriving). The house is about 45min from Roque Nublo where you'll find awesome scenery and loads of hiking. You can actually see Pico de las Nieves from the road to the house. The kitchen has everything you need. There's a couple of great loungers near your private little pool (Jan water was a bit cold for us! :) ) It's the perfect place to explore the mountains, escape from reality for a bit and chill out. You get a free cat as part of the stay and the chickens lay tasty eggs every morning. Thanks!

We had the most wonderful holiday in years! This house offers endless privacy and peace where you can relax, read or just enjoy the environment. The perfect place to unwind and escape from your busy life. Octavio clearly has high standards and wants the guests to feel welcome. Everything is well thought through, all facilities are high quality and if you have questions or concerns, Octavio is easy to contact. It was a very welcome surprise that the WiFi is portable, so you can take it with you and navigate the Island without ever losing connection. The pool is really as clear and blue as in the pictures and very refreshing during the heatwave we had. We enjoyed the friendly but stubborn chickens and their free eggs. We made friends with the white cat with one blue and one green eye that came to visit us every day, we will really miss her. Without any doubts, we will come back here!

We had a lovely time during our stay. It was better than we could imagine. The house is just perfect, it has everything you need and above all; the best view of the island! This house is perfect for two people who want to be away from the main touristic sights and enjoy the nature, quietness and want to live the real Gran Canaria life, which includes driving on a narrow mountain road with some hairpin bends (the only way to reach the house). So people who are afraid to drive in the mountains and do not like to be a quite far away from the most activites would be better off finding another place to stay. And for everyone who likes challenges and driviving, Gran Canaria and this house is the place to be! Without a rental car you will be stuck here so you need to rent one and discover the island. The most touristic places are about an hour driving, but we bumped into spectaculair places on our way to get there and the view is worth the effort definately! Octavio is very kind and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. If you want to ask something, Ocatvio is easy available to answer your questions. He also gave us portable wifi which was very handy on our way to look something up. And finally let's don't forget about our four friends the chickens, if you are nice to them they will leave you fresh eggs every morning to complete your breakfast! Octavio, we will definately come back! :)

English: Octavio has been really nice with us from the beginning. We were looking forward for some relaxing days, and it is just what we got. The house is amazing, fresh eggs every day from the hens on the backyard, waking up with the chirp of the birds, perfect swimming pool to enjoy the sun. I have no other words to describe how good has been this weekend.

In short this is a great, quiet and remote place with a nice view and all the basic stuff available! The longer version: We really liked staying in this very quiet place nicely put on a hill (that seems to be slightly warmer than other areas in the on the island for some reason, which was really nice). The owners were extremely friendly and helpful (and they speak English). There are even fresh spices available in the garden (and some regular ones in the kitchen) and 4 chickens (= 3-4 fresh eggs a day)! Really nice animals, the perfect organic waste processing plant and our baby boy loved them! They sit in quite a small cage but if you let them roam around freely they go back in their cage at sundown with no questions asked ;-). If I need to say something that could be improved it would be a bigger tank for hot water. There is only enough warm water for 1 shower. We also had an issue with a strange sewery smell in the bathroom but Octavio sent a plumber right away to fix it.
