The campsite is in the woods and is a level, grassy area for your tent. Two tents per site and six people per site unless prior arrangements made. Firewood may be purchased from us. There is a shared restroom and shower available.

The space
Known by locals as the hippie farm. Here you will find 18 magical acres mixed with forest, river, garden and prairie. This place is unlike any other; we live in line with the pace of nature. We work to create a place where we welcome you as you are, and many come to heal. We believe that everything is sacred, from the soil to the air we breath, and understand the interconnectedness of it all.

The property, like ourselves is a work in progress. In 2019, the care of the Yarrow transitioned from Dennis to Tommy and me. Dennis created and cared for this farm since 1974 incorporating principles of permaculture, biodynamics, sustainability and naturopathy. Tommy and I will continue this work and add a little of our own flavor as well.

Tommy and I are just a couple of city kids that followed our dream of moving to the country and establishing a homestead. Once we realized the power of this lifestyle, we knew we needed to share it with others. We are both yoga instructors and have studied other healing modalities over the years; we offer yoga and meditation classes at the farm as well. Tommy is a beekeeper - save the bees, save the humans- and has a 40 hive apiary onsight. We sell bees and honey and offer beekeeping classes.

You won’t find anything fancy here. Humble, simple, and rustic are words that come to mind. We don’t believe in the throw away culture. We work to use what already exists, keeping things out of our landfills and not creating new stuff. You will see things that are well used, loved and repaired rather than cast off.

Where you’ll be

Mondovi, Wisconsin, United States

Buffalo County is a hidden treasure in Western Wisconsin. The Buffalo River, which runs alongside Dancing Yarrow Retreat, flows down to the Mississippi. It is peaceful and untouched, so the wildlife is bountiful. Home to eagles, sandhill cranes, geese, ducks, whitetail deer and many more creatures! The Buffalo River comes out in Alma, which is a wonderful tourist/artist town, and has amazing Mississippi Bluffs. There is an over look there, worth the drive.

The town of Mondovi has a beautiful lake called Mirror Lake. There is good fishing, and the greatest July 4th fireworks show you'll find in a small town. There are 3 restaurants, a grocery store, 2 hardware stores, a great thrift store, a library and other small town store needs.

Kinestone Permaculture University is a must see neighbor of ours located in Fountain City, WI in Buffalo County. They have a permaculture university and stone hedge circle.

We have close access to the Trempealeau County bike trail. It proudly boasts being the largest connected bicycle loop system covering 487 miles of paved back roads in the United States.

Eau Claire is located 20 minutes to the north of us and offers many activities from art fairs, free music in parks, dining and shopping.

Maria, her husband Tommy and daughter Ella own and operate Dancing Yarrow Retreat*. They moved from the Minneapolis to Mondovi in 2011 and have been learning about traditional family farming methods, the local food movement, principles of Permaculture, sustainable building techniques, alternative healing, yoga and living with less- simply learning a new way of life. It is their hope to grow a community of like minded individuals and to offer a sanctuary for people to visit in order to reconnect with themselves, with nature and the way farms once were. *This amazing place was lovingly created and cared for by the one and only Dennis Anderson. We could not be more grateful to him for creating this space, sharing it with so many and helping us continue it's mission. Tommy and Maria have the honor of being the new keepers of Dancing Yarrow. Tommy, Ella and Maria will continue the good work that has been happening there since the 70's- building community, biodynamic farming, connection to the earth, healing...all the good things!!

During your stay

We live on a small farm approximately 10 minutes from Dancing Yarrow. We will be present on the property frequently, but the retreat location is very private. We can be interactive, or not, which ever is the guests desire. If wish to come to the barn for pizza, beer, wine or camaraderie, we would love to have you join us.

We are not online often as we are usually outside working or hosting pizza nights, and our cell phone service is spotty, so please be patient with us if we are slow to respond. Thank you
